>people making minimum wage in the US make less every year (~$15,000) than the average person in Botswana, Gabon, Mauritius, and Seychelles (all sub Saharan African countries)
>there are literally pseudo NEETs on /int/ RIGHT NOW who are content with working minimum wage because living off an Africa tier wage and playing video games/shitposting/anime when they get home is all they want out of life
>>
>>58301758
I make $2 + $3-4 in tips an hour

Less than minimum hahaha
>>
what more do you want

2 car garage? 2.5 kids? hs sweetheart wife and mistress plus comfy mid management 8-5 with 2 weeks paid vacation and 2 story house, that's cool i guess
>>
Why don't they get a good job then? Flipping burgers is not the only thing.
>>
>>58301803
Isn't that illegal? I thought if your tips + wage don't end up being equal to or greater than the minimum wage, your employer has to make up the difference.
>>
>>58301758
Well those jobs aren't really meant to support a family. One person can live off of that if they don't live in an expensive area.
>>
>>58301837
This. I work in the fields, and I made 12K in 5 months.
>>
>>58301758
I doubt Gabonniggers make >15000 goysheckels on average
>>
>>58301837
For totally unskilled labor, it doesn't get much better than flipping burgers. I mean if you can get a job at one of the few factories that haven't gone to China yet, you can make a somewhat decent wage doing menial labor, but that's rare. Also temp work usually pays better for the hourly rate, but it's temp work.
>>
>>58301905
They have oil...
>>
>>58301851
Not in South Tejas hahahahahahaahahahahahahHahhHah

Wew living the live bruh
>>
>>58302003
I heard shitty entry level service jobs out in the middle of nowhere where you primarily serve truckers can pay better because nobody wants to live in the middle of nowhere.
>>
>>58301953
I know that oil is exploited by total and they bring frenchmen to work offshore platforms and make them live in secluded villages along the coast, complete with walls and miradors IIRC
>>
>>58302098
I know it was like that under president Bongo, but is it still like that?
>>
>>58301837
They would need to rework the entire economy for this to be possible.
All unskilled labour would need to be automated.
>>
>>58302175
Couldn't tell you desu, my mom has a friend who knew a guy who worked there so that's 5ish years old information
>>
>>58301758
Minimum wage isn't a career choice, it's for high schoolers
>>
>>58302255
>my mom has a friend
France! YES!
>>
>>58302284
No, it's for anyone who is OK making minimum wage and wants to. You aren't assigned a role in society by anyone.

>mfw there are americans that aren't working in finance making big money by buying and selling stocks

how?

seriously, you are american, thats the whole point of being american

all you need to do is get a degree from your local church and then make a lot of connections, then ban you are in
>>
>>58302301
As in a female friend you cuckster

She's been alone since leaving my dad 20ish years ago, doing nothing but working and watching tv
>>
>>58302284

>making less than $100k with a high school education

what is wrong with americans?
>>
>>58302339
>working for wall street when our stock market is do fucked the only thing keeping us from a full blown economic depression is quantitative easing
>>
>>58301758

what
you make $15000 a year by minimum wage ?
average person in korea earns $20000~30000...
its so unfair
is korea just another african country.
>>
>>58302497
Your standard of living is still much higher than someone working minimum wage in the US.
>>
>>58302497
Living is probably 2x cheaper in corea.
Anywhere else too desu.
>>
>>58302375
Our average shitty apartment rental isn't $3000 a month.
>>
>>58302548
but how is it possible when they make more money than us? it really let me down.

>>58302563
>living is cheaper
that's probably ture. but still..
>>
>>58302339
>buy low sell high
>just network bro
You must own a dozen yachts and several homes in Switzerland. You sound like the clueless scheming retards on /biz/
>>
>>58302629
Because people havent used their money to buy the things that count towards HDI yet. Like recently rich countries will have a lower HDI since they haven't had time to build stuff yet, and formerly richer countries can have a higher HDI with low incomes because they already bought the stuff that counts towards HDI, like Ukraine has a higher HDI than what would be expected for their GDP.

>>
>>58302339
Nobody on wall street makes money in stocks anymore. There is too much regulation. All the greedfags trade bonds.
>>
>>58302736
>tfw I complained about niggers today and she called me a racist

JUST (though she didn't say there was anything wrong with being racist and didn't mention it afterwards)
>>
lmao nerds
>>
>>58302704

i dont think i understood.
are you saying americans working minimum wage spend less money than average koreans? what does this have to do with HDI? i'm not talking about spending.
>>
>>58303018
I was just trying to explain how similar incomes in different countries can lead to drastically different standards of living.
>>
>>58303063

oh. okay.
what you said is true but isnt america the wealthiest country? theres an inequality issue, but are poor people in the US really in bad conditions?
i agree that average koreans might be in similar, or even better conditions than poor people in the US though.
>>
>>58302375
I'm wealthier than you, by an extremely wide margin. I don't care if someone is less than me, it's their problem.

Individual > Collective
>>
>>58303283
The cost of living can be pretty low here. So being poor isn't always that bad. It depends on where you are though.

>Poland has a better overall socioeconomic situation than France, Japan, Italy and Israel

[doubt]
>>
>>58303345

if you dont mind, where do you live?
i actually have an american citizenship.
but i was raised up in korea entire my life so i would rather stay here. if living in the US is so much better than being here i might want to go there.
>>
>>58303482
Arizona. It's not the best state, but it's not the worst state. Honestly, it's probably not worth it to move unless you have a good job offer lined up or something.
>>
>>58303478
it may be boring, but economical stability isn't always fun
>>
>>58303421

why theres no korea!!!!
is korea such a bad country to be included?
i am upset!

and the US is still better for poor people to live in. jealous.
>>
>>58301895
Tell me more.
>>
>>58303554
USA is better for rich people, which is all that I care about

why let mediocrity attract you?
>>
>>58303527
you are right, but someitmes i hate korea so much i just want to leave. if i can't make it in either country wouldnt it be better to be miserable in the US
>>
>>58303602
Because most people are fine with being mediocre. It's comfy. You get more time to watch anime and masturbate.
>>
>>58303629
I masturbate to anime and use $100 dollar notes to wipe my ass

It's not mutually exclusive
>>
>>58303610
Move to Japan and shitpost pretending to be a self hating Japanese person. You can probably find a job cuz they have no young people to do them kek.
>>
>>58303550
That doesn't make any sense, how can the bottom 10% of canadians live almost better than the top 10% of frenchmen ?
>>
>>58303573
What more is there to know. Working the fields is pretty easy, if you don't mind being out in the sun for 8 hours a day. But I worked in the grape, and that doesn't start until late summer/early fall.

The fields has shit working conditions, but amazing pay for cheap labor.
>>
>>58303681
'better' is subjective and hard to measure objectively
>>
>>58303602

bottom 10% of the population has better life than most of the other countries, other than canada, swede, and switzerland? considering the number of population, thats amazing.

based on japanese status i bet korea has a even worse situtation. rich people in japan has similar living conditions as poor people in the US.
>>
>>58303743
try not to focus on the bottom percent my man, ascend to greatness
>>
>>58303673

id rather stay in korea than move to japan. ew.
working in east asia is extremely harsh and competitive as well. i think western companies have so much better working conditions.
>>
>>58301758
>make less every year (~$15,000) than the average person in Botswana, Gabon, Mauritius, and Seychelles (all sub Saharan African countries)

That sounds like bullshit. The average wage in those countries is $1000 per year. Only engineer makes $15,000.
>>
>>58303784

what is your point? im confused
for rich people, yeah. the US is the best place.
that is exactly what i'm talkin about?
>>
>>58303602
Western Europe is the best place to be rich due to geography though. If you're rich, you can do expensive travels often (everything from wine tasting to tours), and being somewhere like France puts you only a few hours from all the relevant cultural spots of the west

If you're rich in California and want to experience luxury high culture you'll have to travel 12-14 hours to east Asia or Europe
>>
>>58303828
I looked at the GDP PPP per capita.
>>
>>58303828
GDP per capita in all those countries is legitimately higher than brazil. Seychelles are mauritius are actually very expensive places man. Don't let the word africa fool you.
>>
>>58303871
I'd rather be in America, our cities and experiences are more economically and culturally relevant for me
>>
>>58303871
this is the most ridiculous logic i've ever seen lol

>poor people in detroit have a better standar of living than millionares in istanbul, mexico city, jerusalem and paris
>this is what americans unironically belive
>>
>>58304158
I think it uses the average of the bottom 10% and the average of the top 10%, so billionaires and the homeless have little impact of the overall number they use for the top and bottom 10%.
>>
>>58304227
the average bottom 10% in america still doesn't live as good as the average top 10% in any country

if i get it correctly, 15% of americans live in poverty and poverty in america is defined by people who earn less than 10k or so dollars per year

and thats an average figure, the bottom 2.3% probably earns like 1/10 of that figure

there is absolutely no way these people live better than millionaires just because they live in america, it doesnt make sense no matter how you see it
>>
>>58304158
Thank God I don't live in Detroit!

Thank God I'm wealthier and live better than 0.001% of the top percentile of Mexicans!

I'd rather focus on greatness and not mediocrity
>>
>>58301758
I always forget how poor some Americans
Then I remember Appalachia is a place

Personally living under 15k is cake
I live comfortably at about 6-7k

Anyway this is what happens when you outsource most of your work and import workers for most shit
These people WANT to work and they are Donald Trump's base
>>
>>58304953
I have trouble living in Texas with 80k/year

I live in the CBD without a car, it definitely saves time but it adds up at the end of the year

I thought Texas was cheap until I learned I needed to pay $2.5k for a 600 square foot apartment that supports a car free lifestyle
>>
>>58305001
>2.5k
That pays over half a year of my rent kek
And I don't have a car
>>
>>58304953
thats fine, im not arguing about you, no need to get all defensive

what i am saying is that that graph is objectively bullshit
>>
>>58305001
$80k is manageable with $2.5k rent, are you fucking retarded
>>
>>58305175
It would be but booze and coke is too cheap in Texas, probably the greatest thing about living here
>>
>>58304955
>These people WANT to work
Unfortunately for them they are on the grid so employers have to match social benefits and pay all the shit that goes along with having a legal employee.
>>
>>58305001

>living in the CBD on 80k
>no car in Texas

yup you're fucking retarded
