Obligatory English:
Wainamoinen, ancient minstrel,
Passed his years in full contentment,
On the meadows of Wainola,
On the plains of Kalevala,
Singing ever wondrous legends,
Songs of ancient wit and wisdom,
Chanting one day, then a second,
Singing in the dusk of evening,
Singing till the dawn of morning,
Now the tales of old-time heroes,
Tales of ages long forgotten,
Now the legends of creation,
Once familiar to the children,
By our children sung no longer,
Sung in part by many heroes,
In these mournful days of evil,
Evil days our race befallen.
Far and wide the story travelled,
Far away men spread the knowledge
Of the chanting of the hero,
Of the song of Wainamoinen;
To the South were heard the echoes,
All of Northland heard the story.

A request for you, friend
Väinämöinen, oud en wakker,
wacht nog in de schoot der moeder,
dertig zomers lang nog wacht hij,
dertig lange winters toeft hij
nog in sluimerstille golven,
in de nevelrijke wateren.
Hij bezint zich, overlegt ook,
hoe te worden, hoe te leven
in de nimmerlichte ruimte,
in de nauwbeperkte engte,
waar hij niet het noordlicht schouwen,
niet het zonlicht kan ontwaren.

Wainamoinen, old and trusty,
Lingering within his dungeon
Thirty summers altogether,
And of winters, also thirty,
Peaceful on the waste of waters,
On the broad-sea's yielding bosom,
Well reflected, long considered,
How unborn to live and flourish
In the spaces wrapped in darkness,
In uncomfortable limits,
Where he had not seen the moonlight,
Had not seen the silver sunshine.

Sorry for the bad mic, I'll fix it asap
>>
>>58270059
Yeah, as the suomi op pointed out, this is Kalevala, which is their epic poem, so the word is the main character's name. I loved it as a child (although I had an adapted version which was shorter than the original), so thank you, OP!
I recorded the Russian translation using my phone, so the sound is good this time

Unfortunately I've lost the book for kids, it had these cool illustrations by Gallen-Kallela. But I've bought the full version because when I stumbled upon it in a bookshop I was shocked over how big it was, I had no idea that I only had read a children's version.

>Wainamoinen, old and trusty,
>Lingering within his dungeon
biggest difference here but it is this one
dutch says
>Wainamoinen, old and AWAKE
>still waits in the womb/lap of the mother
but the rest is pretty much the same but those first two lines still strike me as completely different though
>>58270667
how come it feels like you spoke 4 times as fast as me but its still longer? russian sounds funny though
>where and what
different course, completely different faculty to be honest
just the same university, good luck finding me among the more than thirty thousand students though
i told you what i studied yesterday though and that literally narrows it down to 100 people but ok :)

>just the same university, good luck finding me among the more than thirty thousand students though

I'll just ask the other students where "the American" is at. And then when they give me a long list of American students, I'll throw it out and just go over to the guy sitting beneath a tree by himself posting in the Voc threads.

It was hard but I made it haha. And there was only one picture on the cover, the same as on the ceiling of the National museum in Helsinki.

>>58270947
This text is supposed to be rather old, like from the 19th century, and I think I've heard that wakker used to have another meaning before, in pragermanic or how is it called it meant alert, so can it be that in this poem the word has a hint of that sense? Btw "vakker" means beautiful in Norwegian.
Also, in Russian he is in the womb of his mother as well, must be English which is off.
I took an additional four lines, that's why it's longer.
>i told you what i studied yesterday though and that literally narrows it down to 100 people
this
>>
>>58271328
well what did you think about it? does russia have something similar?
>>
>>58271328
I'm well aware of what 'wakker' can mean, but none of those meanings comes close to trusty, in my honest opinion. Also a dungeon is not a womb and waiting is not lingering. What does the original actually say, without a silly poetic translation?

It was good, I like this type of literature, it has something so naive about it, but interesting at the same time. We have this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tale_of_Igor%27s_Campaign and this is pretty much it. There are also small ancient poems called byliny (meaning roughly "something that happened"), you can look at this character, the article has cool paintings https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadko

That's no dialect. That's the common Dutch. It's how we talk when we want to understand each other (In Belgium). If everybody talk in their dialect, well, I only understand the people In Vlaams-Brabant, a bit those of Oost-Vlaanderen, and in West-Vlaanderen (where I'm from) well, only those around Kortrijk.
I'm not a native Dutch, so it obviously makes it harder for me, but Hollanders & Limburgers are the worse desu, they rarely make an effort, while Flemish show a certain appreciation for my effort to talk their language.

I used to think so too, but now I love it... That's a long story though.

How does this sound to you though? I'm really curious. This is the psychedelic version of said music, please listen to it!

This piece already is turkish topkek, even the rhythm is turkish(it's "Duyek", check http://www.gercekdorman.com/turk-musikisi-usulleri/ for more information), so it'd be silly to transmute something that's already turkish lel. Tell me about your long story, free yourself from the evil
>>
>>58285363
Oh, well this kind of song, called "manea" over here, has turkish origins.

Anyway, I used to hate this kind of music myself. Long story short, I ended learning a bit of bulgarian and I now listen to "chalga", the Bulgarian kind of this music, on a daily basis. :D

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you puta pequeno? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in Los Zetas, and I’ve been involved in numerous executions on the Sinaloas, and I have over 300 public beheadings. I am trained in chainsaw warfare and I’m the top decapitator in all of Juarez. You are nothing to me but just another head waiting to be severed. I will detatch it with a lack of precision and cutting force the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, gringo. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of mariachi bands across the USA and a narcocorrido is being written about you right now so you better prepare for the chainsaw, gordo. The chainsaw that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your head. You’re fucking dead, paco. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in exactly one way, and that’s with my brand new Husqvarna 440 chainsaw. Not only am I extensively trained in chainsaw combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the local hardware store and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable head off the face of the body, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over your head and your head will come off in it. You’re fucking dead, gringo.

i Konsumkajen s duft
han flojter to melodier
i den samme mundfuld luft
jeg så Taxasoren pendle
og lægge sig på lur
efter fremmede folk i natten
der kunne komme ham lidt for nær
de farlige fyre er ude i nat
og se sig omkring
de har rimtåge mellem tænderne
men de gor os ingenting

Og præsten prædiker
han vender sin kåbe
for den bette dame på bænken
der har brug for hans håb
jeg så en skrutnakke der kigger
han står og gemmer sin skam
han er vild med tolvårs piger
men de er bange for ham
han har set nattens stumfilm
i alt slags vejr

at savne mig i nat

The site is:

It's free, just virtual money. If you sign-up, you don't need to enter a real e-Mail because they don't verify accounts.

Deutsches Volk!

Nationalsozialisten!
