The CGI in 2 is so egregious. The movie's a fucking videogame. At least the Phantom Menace has some memorable scenes. Tatooine looks great, the podracing sequence is exciting and the jedi duel is good too.
There is absolutely nothing good about 2. Every potentially exciting sequence is done entirely with cgi. It's impossible to get any enjoyment out of 2.

I watched it with my girl a week ago. She never watched it before, and she loved it, but got a bit bored at the Battle of Yavin. It just hasn't aged well. But nevertheless at the end of the movie she said "I can't believe they made this back in the 70's". It was revolutionary.
Empire is the most hype but A New Hope establishes the world so fucking great.
