it's ok, facing a lot of corruption just like the rest of south america, hopefully Dilma gets her just desserts as she was good friend's with Ch*vez.

Also, when I was younger I would cheer for Brazil's national team during world cup as Venezuela's team is pretty shit and has never qualified.

I was born in Porto Alegre, but moved to Miami when I was two years old, and only visited once when I was thirty two. Brazil is 99% a third world shit hole like the other LAT-AM countries. The only parts that are not shit are the states of the far south PR/SC/RS. Most of the people I met in the south were quick to tell you how different they were in comparison to the Rio or Sao Paulo type Brazilians. The far south should be a separate country.

Since I am white with a Czech last name, no one ever would think I was born in the third world. I work with quite a few Brazilians and none know my secret. I speak no Portuguese, so when I was in Brazil I was just another American tourist.
>>
>>58227489
Here's an opinion from an Indian American (dot): your country is a poohole, and you're as corrupt, inefficient and overpopulated as other developing nations. Yet you pretend as if you're above them.

Your football used to be great. Used to be.

You have a bunch of trannies, at least on the internet.

Your country's researchers are hardworking people, at least those who come to US.
>>
Why is Brazil so violent? I can understand Mexico since it's the last stop on the drug route to Burgerclapistan and Colombia since that's where all the good Coke is from, but Brazil isn't on the route.

Brazil's interior is pretty much empty, though. Most of the population is either concentrated on big cities and on the coast.
>>
>>58228795
>overpopulated
It's literally less populated than America. Not only we have less people but also less population density. I'd advise you to at least do minimal research next time you decide to shit on a country you know very little about, but you're an american indian so you're probably too busy getting aids and drinking to death

>>58228897
The drug traffic and the high poverty rate are the main causes of the violence here.
Generally, who kill and rob are the ones who had no chance in life (a.k.a. favelado) and fall for the crimeland to get some lame opportunities in the trafficking business.

Corpse of a teenage boy was found in a brush in Pedreiras, a city in Maranhão, Brazil. The body was decapitated, dismembered, disemboweled, castrated and the heart was carved out.

The victim was identified as 14 year old student named Emanuel Messias Silva de Sousa. Shortly after his discovery, the police arrested 20 year old Jose Antonio de Sousa, nicknamed Toinho, who confessed to the teen’s murder and said his murder was a cult ritual which involved eating the liver.

A lot of the extreme shit you see on liveleak is from some small town in the middle of nowere in the northeast. You are insane comparing Rio to Miami as far as crime goes. The problem is when you live in a third world shit hole you think that is normal, and all other places are shit holes.

I lived in the South Zone of Rio. Statistically, it's about as safe as Boston. I was nbever robbed or feared for my life in the slightest. Most of the murders happen in the northern zone of the city, where most of the slums are. It's also mostly drug dealers killing each other. When a middle-class person dies, it's first page news everywhere. I think you don't understand how similar we are to some of your cities

Met a lot of Brazilians on erasmus or holiday here. They are generally nice and party a lot, but act WAY too macho for American women and will literally try to cuck you if they're drunk (unsuccessfully, I might add).

Some of them are white, but most are brown.

Brazil itself is a corrupt, poor, jungle nation with pockets of rich white people.

Northeast is a poor region which since the capital of Brazil moved from Salvador to Rio de Janeiro, was neglected and ignored by the State. There are pratically no laws/no police in it's countryside and big cities outskirts.

The State's focus, since then, was to develop the Southeast region, the South region when the immigration exploded there, and most recent, the Mid-West region with modern techniques of agriculture.

The Northeast region didn't received development incentive due to it's lack of resources, so the State simply didn't care. In the last years, the coast cities of the Northeast received a great development due to investment in tourism. The North is poor simply because the great florests out there makes it impossible the development of cities.

The majority of the white girls can be found in the far south Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Parana. In Rio they live in Leblon and Ipanema. Keep in mind the pure white girls are off limits to tourists, even other white Latinos strike out with them. I have read every Brazilian thread on male travel websites and no one claims to have landed a pure white southern girl. You will have to be happy with a brown Portuguese type at best.

Hello my fellow 4channers, my name is Abu Handbanana, and as you can notice from the flag above, yes, I am Brazilian, but no, I am not the steriotypical Brazilian, I am a different kind of Brazilian, I am different. How? Do you ask? You could supposedly say I am a civilized kind of Brazilian, a superior one, akin to you my fellow civilized first world 4channers; as you know already, Brazilians are uncivilized folks that are only good at throwing their excrements at one another, screeching loudly, demanding goods and stealing earnings from the hard working people of the world. I, for instance, do not partake with such people, I mean you can certainly see that I am different kind of Brazilian, I mean look at my persona, you can certainly spot several differences in my presentation. As such, as you have read thus far, I speak perfectly English, akin to you my fellow civilized folks, I am dressed properly to my exhibition to the civilized first world, as you can notice in my picture attached to this manifesto; also I am devout believer of reason over emotion, different from the animalistic people that unfortunately share this land with myself; and finally the most important piece of evidence that proves that I am a differentiated kind of inhabitant of this inferior country and also a similar being to you my god chosen people is the undeniable and objective fact, the basis of every single claim that I've made thus far, is the lawful, dogmatic and genuine fact that I am indeed NOT A MONKEY

No, but even if they obliterate PT they will never obliterate the left. It's way too strong right now, and it has way too much power in our education system, pumping out people like you in a industrial scale. The right has a good chunk of the midia, and it's starting to gain the internet. In fact, this thing happened bnecuase middle-class liberals finally realised they can also do social protests.

Still, it's an uphill battle. The funny thing is that you still believe you're the underdogs, while never acknowledging that your line of thinkning is very dominant. You commies and pinkos are still ahead. I find it unlikely that the right will be able to undo what you have done in a short time, and by the time they are able to do anything another cisis will come along and some other left-wing candidate will take power

No. PT's strategy is BRICS, Africa and South America. Theyresign themselves to be a bit more liberal to make our inverstors and business people here happy and also because they are pressured by our more conservative congress, so sometimes people get that impression. Their goals are anti-liberal to the bone, even though they are not ultra-radicals

The line of thinking that you refer to is American-Style Liberalism. Gay marriage, feminism, some degree of social security, etc... Yes, that's becoming dominant, and that's a victory for capitalism, because people don't even talk about the possibility of another economic system. It's all about the stupid "culture wars".There's nothing "Marxist" about it.

The line of thinking that is becoming dominant is "capitalism is evil, Latin america is only poor because of the evil english liberals who pushed it to exploit us, America and capitalist central powers do everything in their power to make sure we stay underdeveloped", etc. Pure Marxist theory, condensed by intellectuals in universities then regurgitated back to us in school. I studied history in college, and anyone who did knows that Latin American hystoriography is mostly based on Marxist theory. I'm not exagerating, I'm not even saying marxist authors are bad or stupid, I'm just stating facts.

What surprises me is that people like you think you're very distinct in that line of thinking, not understanding it's simply dominant.

I was a teacher for a while and talked to students, both in private and public schools, and that's how they think. When I was their age, that's how I thought as well. You're common.

I don't think you ever read Marxist theory. Most marxists today want to implement communism through capitalism and strong social reforms, slowly asserting itself into the state. The whole idea of progressive tax systems was marxist in origin.

You could argue that FHC wasn't really going in that direction, even though he raised taxes tremendously during his government, but Lula certainly was. Not every communist is a Trotskist.

In fact, unless you're a Trotskist, you ough to be very happy as a lefty right now. You're implementing their theories very well, seeing that a lot of what PT did is almost irreversible. It almost guaranteed that they would never lose power. Dop you notice how they always say that everything will be reversed if the opposition wins(even though FHC did a whole bunch of social programs himself, and at the time was even criticized by PT for it)? PSDB had to put Bolsa Familia in the fucking constitution just to try and descredit soime of PT's propaganda. They're lunatics. I'm not going to discuss the fantastic notions that those "Marxists" you refer to may have in their heads. Maybe Dirceu believed, in his twisted mind, that what he was doing was a step in the direction of communism. Who fucking cares?

What matters is this: who has benefited from the policies of the "Left" in the last decades in Brazil and Europe? Clearly, not the "proletariat". From that, you can conclude who they're working for.

The "Marxist Left" you're referring to is totally committed to the maintenance, expansion and strengthening of the Capitalist system.

What you see around you is Real Capitalism. If it doesn't look like some 18th century Liberal myth, too bad. That's the way it is, and that's the way it's always been.

That's where we diverge. To me, real capitalism/liberalism took a giant hit in the 19th century, by socialists. What we have now is a weird distorted center-left, socialist order that basically wants to make the entire wolrd dominated by some weird corporatist oligarchy, organized into a powerful super-state. Utterly agaisnt classical liberal values. What you call the "right" or capitalism, I call national socialism. In this case, globalist socialism. That's what the left is to me. Actually, I don't have to. It has already been done. There's official data from the British Government about the conditions of the population during that "Golden Age". That's referred to in Das Kapital, but it's common knowledge, so you don't have to read this devilish work to know what I'm talking about. Those were the consequences of the absurd notion of the "free labour contract between autonomous individuals", one of these "humanist" values you refer to.

That's a very broad subject. I don't have the answer to everything. But it seems to me that the average worker in early-19th century British industry was much more exploited than the average European peasant. Peasants controlled their productive process, and had to give part of the product to the feudal lord. Factory workers worked under strict control, gave all their product to the capitalist, and in exchange received a small sum of money that permitted their subsistence, nothing more.

Of course, I'm not in favor of Feudalism. I sympathize a lot with 18th-century style Liberal values. But the idea of the "free labour contract between autonomous individuals" I simply cannot accept. I just doesn't work that way. It's a legal fiction elevated to the level of dogma that prevents people from seeing the true nature of the system.

Do you really claim that craftsmen were had less freedom and a better life than medievel slaves tied to the land? Just observe how often starvation was during that period compared to the post-industrial era, especially during the 1800's in britain.
>Factory workers worked under strict control, gave all their product to the capitalist, and in exchange received a small sum of money that permitted their subsistence, nothing more
They had a much bigger access to clothes than a medieval peasant. Also, bigger access to food. Why do you think the population grew so much at that time? The production levels were way higher than anything ever conceived before. It got to a point where clothes weren't a class distinguisher anymore during the Victoria era, because they became cheap enough that some commoners could afford them.

You're distorting things. Peasants were not slaves, they had their semi-independent communities, and the obligations they owed to their feudal lords were nothing like slave labour or the 19th century factory. And I don't know why you're bringing up craftsmanship, since it's capitalist accumulation that destroyed it and replaced it with the factory system.

The increase in total material wealth that you refer to is a result of technology and modernization. That's perfectly compatible with the idea that businesses should be owned by the workers themselves. Socialists have always been pro-modernization.

The issue is ownership, democratic control, the capacity of the people to decide what goals they want to pursue together, without a supposedly "enlightened" class above them telling what to do (notice the similarity between the capitalist and the bolshevik mindsets).

>Peasants were not slaves
Depends on what kind of peasantry you're talking about, but generally they weren't slaves in the same way sheep aren't slaves. They were serfs, with limited rights that were very dependent on the humour of their lords and/or very rudimentary systems with limited guarantees, and were moved around and exchanged like trading cards. Compared to them, 19th century workers were very free.

>since it's capitalist accumulation that destroyed it and replaced it with the factory system.
Factory workers were generally called craftsmen. I'm not talking about independent artisens. You seem to think that factorie workers were always extremely specialized in minial tasks and workers were always completely unskilled, which is a lie

>democratic control
never an idea particularly defended by communists before the 1900's. Socialists were also part of your supposed "enlightened" class, and it was never an initiative that came to be from the workers themselves.

> businesses should be owned by the workers themselves
>the capitalist gets all the capital to himself
and what? Hoards it in his house? Money means nothing, what matters is production. The capitalist may have 10000 more money than the worker, but does he consume 10000 the ammount of food? Of water? Cloth fabric?

That's actually what some people found out during the french revolution. They were angry, and hungry, so they assaulted the very symbol of wealth concentration at the time: the palace of versailles. A place where the accumulated wealth of some of the most powerful people in the world was. What did they get from sacking it? Nothing. All that wealth couldn't get them enough food to distribute between millions.

Most of the money the capitalist gets becomes productive investments. Most of what he produces is sold to other people, often poor people.

By the way, I'm not a libertarian. I agree with some degree of social reform, and think that the individual should sometimes be protected by appropriate laws. It's not ideal, but the world is not ideal. I'm just not a communist. I think collectivism would literally destroy our freedoms, and would inevitably make our lives bleak and horrible. I also believe high levels of socialism generates extreme inefficience in production, just by observing that countries that actually try it usually end up with breadlines.

It's pseudo-religious.

It's like:
>do whatever you want just don't deny God's existence and thank God for everything

You can for example, have a foursome with people and even murder people, but as long you're believing in God you're a good catholic.

It's a facade like everything else in Brazil. In Brazil we pretend 90% things, Brazilian people are very good actors.

>Compared to them, 19th century workers were very free.
I don't agree. But that's a digression, because socialists are pro-modernization. I'm not wanna be pushed into a conservative position. So I'll drop this subject.

>You seem to think that factorie workers were always extremely specialized...
That's the tendency of the capitalist system. The only way to stop workers from being reduced to dumb machines is some sort of regulation, and that's never going to be implemented willingly by the capitalists.

>democratic control
That's the socialism that I defend. If some people developed the idea of the "professional revolutionary" that's going to lead the masses to a bright future, that's not my responsibility. And yeah, that mindset is very similar to liberal-capitalist ideas.

>The capitalist may have 10000 more money than the worker, but does he consume 10000 the ammount of food? Of water? Cloth fabric?
That's probably the dumbest argument you have made today. The issue is not the difference in the amount of products that the capitalist and the worker consume. The issue is the control over ones own destiny, which involves having a say in the way business is conducted. You think there would be no reinvestment if workers controlled businesses? You think they can't plan ahead? As I suspected, you DO think people can't make their own decisions.
>>
>>58247276
>The issue is the control over ones own destiny, which involves having a say in the way business is conducted
there are several collective, sometimes even privately owned cooperative businesses out there. Cooperativas. I studied them quite a bit in college. A lot of left wing people came up with them as an alternative, and that's during the military dictatorship. Ironically enbough, they were way more promoted by the government back then. They are not particularly effective, especially non-agrarian ones, and the most effective ones end up being effectively controlled by something like a board of directors, not like a democratic company owned by the workers.

I'm all for different types of businesses, but I'm also not blind. What you propose is far from effective, and is practically a pipe dream. Workers unions that organize themselves and try to negotiate salaries exist for a reason. Why don't you think powerful unions get together and try to open their own factories, etc? Can you guess why? Can you guess how risky is a business? How busy is for someone to make harsh decisions about productivity, salaries? Would said union end up promoting a manager to make such decisions? How would that more effective? Is everyone planning together? Can everyone make or decide on executive decisions effectively?

The liberal system allows for the experimentation of a lot of things, including alternative systems to capitalism. What marxists propose is a totalitarian system that destroys any other possibility other than socialism. It's autocratic by nature

No way; South Region is Argentina tier. Problem is, foreign migrants - especially those from German and Japan - were skilled workers who avoided the tropical (and touristy) States for being too hot, in times most "native" Brazilians were illiterate. When industry started to develop in the 30's, and between 1950/75, guess what States were chosen for building factories and corporate buildings? This creates cultural tension between "industrial/subtropical Brazil" and "touristy/tropical Brazil", and many of us doesn't know what is living in each other Brazilian "region".

I moved from São Paulo to Rio 8 years ago myself and feel like an Argentinian or Chilean in Nigeria or Cameroon. Local people sometimes even confuse me with a foreigner tourist because of my look - including petty criminals, touts, peddlers and tricky clerks/shopkeepers. I became a foreigner in my own country!
