I wouldn't call myself a humanist, but WW1 legitimately makes me sad. So many nations that were at peace for so long, europe prospered, people were proud of their nation and their identitiy, it was a good time with good people. But with the introduction of modern warfare and modern weaponry, it was one big slaughtering. Millions of men dead, millions of families broken, and everyone screaming for peace but unable to achieve it. World War 1 was a big tragedy, it was even worse than World War 2. At least you can argue that World War 2 was unavoidable, but World War 1 was truly a mistake, a big tragic giant mistake.
