Why? Because I was homeless for a while, and now I'm not. But even when I was homeless, I'd never sleep in front of somebody's apartment building, or a business. It's beyond rude, and frankly there are MUCH safer, nicer areas for me to sleep. And now that I DO have a home...I really don't like going out at night and seeing downtown just FILLED with homeless people.
Like, come on. Just get together with your homeless squad and sleep in the park like normal people, then set up your "gib mone plz" setups in town come morning.
I feel for a lot of homeless people. Most of them are just normal people, down on their luck, and just trying to get by. Sure a lot drink or smoke, but come the fuck on...you don't have anything to do all day, so you may as well enjoy yourself, especially since you'll probably be dead by the end of the year anyway.
Some homeless are just assholes or crazy, so fuck them, but in general I really do think we need to be doing more to help homeless people. The only reason I'm not homeless anymore is because some church nut offered me a shower and paid for a haircut for me, and then I managed to get a job. Was homeless while I was working there, sure, but after a month or two I had enough for a deposit, and now I'm renting happily.
Not every homeless person is a crazy drug addict.
Homeless people here get loads of social welfare which they spend on heroin, and when the money runs out for the week they go around robbing people with syringes filled with AIDS. You cant even walk arounds Dublin these days.

In general I think the homeless are good people who've made bad choices, intentional or otherwise, and have ended up falling outside of society. It's regrettable and I do believe that society is obligated to try to bring them back into the fold. I do not believe that can be achieved through handouts and entitlements or by letting them sleep in the street like animals.
I don't care a single bit to be honest. They might as well not exist to me.

No one needs to be homeless in Sweden, its a choice. There is enough room in all the shelters, but you are not allowed to do drugs or have alcohol. So I can't really feel too much for them.

Give reasonable intensives to employers to hire homeless as laborers. There will be an increased demand for day labor/agriculture type jobs once illegal immigration is properly enforced. The homeless can fill these positions and work towards establishing a residents through their own means.
Quite frankly, providing the homeless with homes and give them welfare does nothing to prevent them from returning to the streets. They know they can go out, not work, and get fucked up all day every day but in the end once they're tired of it they can wander into a library, hop on a computer and apply for all these benefits.
If it's they're spending their own money, earned through good honest work, on housing they'll be far less likely to throw it away. They have something to lose. There's a reason why the stories of the homeless who reintegrate with society always begin with "I got a job".

My father was made homeless at 16 (kicked out of his home) and ended up studying law at a Russell Group uni a few years later off his own back. I have some sympathy for homeless people but it isn't impossible to do something that improves your situation.

Businesses should be able to put hobo determent spikes outside their businesses if they choose to. If you let hobos hang out around your business they will fuck your shit up by making a mess, being destructive, or harassing your customers. In the town I live near, the local animal rescue had an overhang thingy in front of the store that had a gate on it. The people who owned it would leave the gate open so the hobos could sleep under there so they had some shelter from the elements. They recently started locking the gate up at night because the hobos would shit all over the entrance to the rescue. They couldn't even be fucked to walk across the street and squat in the bushes by the railroad, they decided to shit in their own shelter like Indians and the guy who owned the place had to scoop it up.
Also fuck people who think like in OP's pic. not a single one of those people would do fuck all to help their precious homeless, beyond token efforts. And if they did they would change their tunes really fucking quick when they get a taste of real homeless behaviour.

Being homeless is a choice in the UK (or at least in Scotland), there are plenty of shelters, council housing and the government will even put you up in a bed and breakfast if you ask
