>I didn't really study English, I just watched tv and movies
>started learning it in 2nd grade at school, studied it in uni
My english teacher didn't know english at all and we just read some books without really learning it
So almost all the english I know is because of movies, youtube videos and videogames. Also 4chan has also improved a bit my level. I make a bunch of terrible errors everytime I type something thought.

Foreigners who brag about just learning it through media, but very likely studied it for 10+ years in school

you only learn some basic grammar rules at school (most of which I couldn't understand) and maybe some new words
95% of my vocabulary came from games / tv/ movies / social networks
I always had an english-russian dictionary open when I played video games as a kid because I wanted to understand what was happening.
English lessons in my schools and uni sucked really hard
I had to study it on my own. Friends, 4chan, youtube videos

How can foreigners brag to you about having to learn English through American media? That's not something to be proud of

Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzöäå
counter strike taught me english
I took two years of afternoon class. I didn't do much though, It was mostly social time. The true learning didn't come till I started browsing 4chan daily, but yeah, I guess couldn't have started without the classes.

To show off that not only are they bilingual, they learned it through the TV! So why should you have any excuse to be monolingual?
