The museums are based and free if you're a student. All sorts of good food, plenty of qts. It's also a gorgeous city.
Near the Seine it smells like piss in the rain.
Being able to sit on the sidewalk at a cafe is one of the greatest joys in my life, even in winter if you can get under a heatlamp.
Finding the best pastry shops, butchers, etc. in your area is cozy af, especially when they get to know you.

Tourists suck ass, even if you are one. Avoid the touristy spots during any sort of popular vacation season. Asian tourists are the worst.
It's expensive.
Air quality isn't the best, but I've dealt with worse.
Driving is hell.
The metro is a good deal, be sure to get a metro pass instead of buying tickets every time.
Paris Plages is pretty sweet in the summer.
Metro at rush hour sucks dick, especially if you're claustrophobic or prone to anxiety.
It's very easy to walk almost anywhere you need to go. on days when I didn't want to deal with crowds I would walk from my school by Grands Boulevards to my room near Place d'Italie. It was a nice walk after a day of classes.

Or ask for the birth certificate of each person until the latest known French of your family, then apply for a proof of French citizenship of their children, first through "Jus sanguinis" then on the ground that they didn't use the "article 19-4 of the Civil Code" (they didn't repudiate it before they turned 18). Do that for each generation until yours.
As long as they were recognised by their parents before they turned 18, they were "de-facto" French in this approach. They just didn't know it.
You'll still need to do this for each generation or it won't work.
