Is Tokyo the only interesting / relevant place in Japan?
Of course, the country is small, but the only city everyone visits and talks about is Tokyo.
Is the rest of Japan just farms and fields? Why isn't "interesting shit / region" ratio spread more evenly?

Is Kiev the only interesting / relevant place in Ukraine?
Of course, the country is huge, but the only city everyone visits and talks about is Kiev.

It's no different to most countries.

tokyo is boring. there are only stores and some public spaces. and all of those are eventually literally "stores" and "spaces". nothing more, nothing less.

if you are normie and like to spend night time with other normies it might be a bit fun though.

Japan is not only small but also a very mountainous, over 70% is mountains, country, and thus we have only a few plains to build large cities, and consequently you end up in some megalopolis complexes like Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe when you are in Japan.

Would visit for that exotic experience. If I wanted to visit a big concrete city, I might as well visit Seoul, New York or fucking Melbourne.

Yes. Either way, Japan has more relevant second-rate cities than most nations could dream of.

Except none of those cities are even remotely similar, except Seoul, which is just a shittier Tokyo.

It's tiny in area, which kind of both limits the amount of cities that would fit, and any need for other major cities than one.

Kyoto has alot of historical sites, being the imperial capital and all, great if you're interested in the history of the Samurai.

Also Hiroshima, but that was our creation

Osaka and Tokyo are entirely different and a person from Osaka may be more friendly than a person of Tokyo.
