In live shows it just looks extremely awkward. In anime, western people talking in the style that Japanese talk is not natural. They are super expressive when it's not appropriate to us. There are rare instances it's okay though like Cowboy Bebop

Some stuff just translates poorly though. Japanese not only use different words and characters but the entire language structure and the thought behind it is nothing like PIE languages. Translating it is very difficult to get right if not impossible.
Also, when I watch a movie about nazis (like der untergang or das boot) they're supposed to speak German, not English.

To me nazis speaking English kills the immersion right away. And why the fuck would I want excellent actors like Bruno Ganz to have their performance be hampered by dubbing?
Same goes for some cartoons and anime. Death Note in English is nowhere near as good as the Japanese version. The characters in wakfu are French to me, no other language would sound right.
Dubbing can never be as immersive and fluent as actors performing in their native tongue.
