Canada Day celebrated July 1st, 1867 is the day that upper canada (ontario) and lower canada (quebec) federated into one bilingual country and set our sights on the pacific ocean. It's a day to celebrate our cooperation from coast-to-coast-to-coast. We're having a massive 150 national party this year, all national attractions/parks are free all year which is pretty decent.

Even when the Premier from Ontario which is mostly anglo makes an official international statement they will use french first as a sign of respect not domination. We did it at the olympics as well.
Canada is only canada because the british gave the french equal rights and full autonomy. They were the ones that rioted during conscription in both world wars, they had no interest in fighting for old now republican land.
