it's mostly because japan and germany had their primary opponents that are the objective of the war respectively, and americans fought in peripheral theaters.
this is noticeable especially in the pacific.
like pic related, in almost all battles, americans heavily outnumbered small japanese island garrisons that thinly dispersed throughout asia pacific due to that incomparable size of battleground. all americans had to do was just looking for a weak point and concentrate a massive force to there while japan had to keep many points at once by itself.
