First off, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth wasn't really imperial in nature.
Secondly, Lwów was a core city of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and Wilno was also a core city of the PLC. Imperial ambitions imply outside intervention and control of areas outside of ones own borders, for us like Moscow.
