In a similar weird fashion everyone calls Japan japan but they call themselves Nihon while koreans call it ilbon
I think Germany has all kind of different names throughout europe. Allemagne in france for example

Arab merchant brought back a diformed version of Goryo which was the name of the kingdom at the time
