I've realised that despite a very mild winter here in Britain, I'm struggling with the cold increasingly and I'm still only 23. I've decided to move to warmer climes- perhaps California once I become a more senior engineer but currently looking out southern France and Spain as an immediate option (assuming a potential BREXIT doesn't affect ease of work in Europe). Could /int/ give my the low down of the pros and cons between France and Spain especially with regards climate, work (in scientific roles or academia or general work-life balance) to a British muslim expat. I have family in Spain, mainly in Madrid and Barcelona, but my grandfather has property and a business in southern France.

My plan is to live in peace with whitey as I do now in Britain. I speak passable French which I only use for the few days of the year I go to le tour, I speak Bangla with my family in Madrid so I haven't picked up much Spanish despite going there often to train. Wherever I go I'll pick up the language to a level where I can publish papers/work in academia or a senior role. I'll integrate into society although I don't drink or eat non-halal meat, also I pray like 3 times a day athlough I'm trying to bump that up to 5.

I'm currently working as a graduate chemical engineer although I'm going back to university to do my MPhil/PhD this summer. I've heard the locals can whistle their local Spanish? Have you worked with Brits in Spain, what was your impression? Were they seen as less relaxed? Brits see ourselves as slightly emotionally repressed, overworked and stressed people that find it hard to unwind outside of a weekly binge.
Also don't compare Indians to bengalis (although a lot of us are Indian).
