You can work both on and off shore, and there's more than one way to make mate. Dad recommends I go via (one year) profession school, effectively prolonging the total education a couple years, instead of going for a BSc straight away. And the UK. We are both getting completely shafted by EU fishing laws. The UK banned pair trawling for Bass way back in 2004 because it was unsustainable, and damaging to the ocean. But due to the EU common fishing regulations, we can only enforce that law in up to 12.5 miles of ocean extending from our land mass. So we still have other countries using this method for their own means in our waters, barely 13 miles away from our land mass. British ocean territory is fucking massive, but we are only allowed control of 12.5 miles of it.

Det eneste aber for meg er at jeg ikke har studieteknikk for fem öre, så jeg må på en måte lære meg å lære helt på nytt.
Og såvidt jeg har forstått er det ganske "enkelt" men ikke "lett" å styre en stor båt. Mye erfaring som skal til, og under lasting/lossing må man være veldig oppmerksom på hvor båtens tyngdepunkt er og sånn.
