How's your homeland in Civ 5? Is it good, shit, or nonexistent? Mine is shit.
>>57655338
>all those fish whales and pearls
>shit

>not playing on pangea
>>57655338
>dat population potential
>maya

>>57655389
I prefer the continents.
>>57655338
sadly nonexistant
>Play Mayans in Deity mode, Pangea and 12 players
>Spawn next to fucking Khan
>Get KHAN'D on turn 50
>Now only one city, basically survive by sucking Egypt dick
>mfw

It severely lacks production.
guys the op is literally on the first line of search results for "bad civ 5 spawns"
>>57655588
Just take the belief that gives you production per fishing boat
Going to start a game now, I plan to automate everything and auto-end turn so I have to do as little as possible.
Thanks OP hopefully this will relax me enough that I will be able to pull the stick out of my ass for tonight
Civ 5 is pretty bad desu, i prefer Civ 3 or Free Col.
>>57655845
You have extremely shit taste, go back to playing tibia or league of losers
>>57655912
Nah, i just like games more free and less focused in normies. It's just stupid this gameplay pre-made "IF YOU PLAY WITH THIS YOU NEED TO FOCUS IN THIS", Genghis Khan is always the first one to die because they are "early" civilizations faction, this is gay and boring and fuck with the original idea of Civilization series.
>>57656050
none of what you said is true though
>>57656075
I bet you never played another civ game except civ 5.
>>57655912
Not him but MMOs, MMORPGs and ASSAFAGGOTS are all fucking shit.
I just started playing this and I am essentially buttonmashing.
I have no idea what I'm doing but I think I'm doing okay.
Civ IV is better in every way
>>57658532
No it's not. They both have a lot of merit. I'm sure we can all agree, however, that Beyond Earth is an embarrassment to the franchise.
>>57655338
I play this with some friends every weekend.
They went to war with each other and Im just sitting there watching.
>>57659454
>Beyond Earth
Hey! Give it the credit it deserves!
It's not everyday humanity manages to create pure cancer and put it into a game.
can someone explain to me how to play this game. i always just amass wonders and the cheapest technologies and i don't use any strategy
>>57659792
Pick a country you like
rush the great library
pick a free tech or the one that pushes you furthest ahead to the next age
harvest nothing but luxuries, settle whenever you can comfortably
repeat until no more room
get big and then beat people up
>>57659792
Science > production > shekels
Make a religion as soon as possible to get more shekels and some pagodas.
Cargo ships are gr8
Cultural city states are the best allies.
Declaring war to capture a city often isn't worth going into unhappiness for 20 turns for.
Don't use siege units until you research dynamite, use missile units instead.
Turn on policy saving so you can get rationalism and commerce as soon as possible instead of wasting (exploration is good if you have a lot of coastal cities).

You're better off if you choose whether to go tall or wide. Tall empires have a small number of cities with large populations, wide empires are opposite.
Generally it's best to get your cities as large as possible, as early as possible. You start getting the biggest benefits when a city is large enough to support a large number of specialists.
If you pick Spain, you may luck out and get a natural wonder close to an early city. Exploit it as well as you can and you'll get an early technological lead, pic related.
So, don't focus on science as such, try to build your population. Urbanization leads to faster development.
