My question is completely random, but are there any people here living in Chiba or in Saitama? I genuinely want to know what life is like there. I hear it's almost like the equivalent of New York having New Jersey as its "little brother" province.
Is it mostly suburbs there? Do you have zoning laws similar to the United States where certain zones are strictly for residential use? Or is it more like Europe where you have a mix of houses and business and restaurants? Is a car necessary in these parts? I hear it's like the suburbs or urban sprawl in the outskirts of the big cities, not quite urban, but not quite rural. I also hear a lot of jokes about Saitama too lol.

I was just looking at a video on youtube of a guy just driving through the outskirts of the main part of Saitama, and I really had this funny sense of familiarity! It really reminds me of New Jersey, except for the architecture and vegetation. and the fact that everyone drives to the left. Except for what I just mentioned, I could just take a suburb of Saitama, put it somewhere in central jersey or long island and it would fit right in!

I'm thinking of learning Japanese.
I kind of regret not doing it in high school (graduated last year) but oh well. I did it in primary school but I doubt that'll be much help- I remember a few hiragana characters but that's it. How many of you learned Japanese from English with no experience and how long did it take?
I would definitely like to learn another language and Japanese is something I can see myself both learning and using (as oppose to Mandarin, Indonesian or Spanish or something like that). I realise a European language would be easier but I can't really see myself ever using French or Spanish. Also my university only offers courses in Eastern languages, Spanish and Arabic so that me makes less inclined to try and learn them. I'm not going to try and google translate this just because I think it'll get butchered
