Napoleon was 1,68m tall, and actually taller than the average man of the 19th century, and most old buildings are tailored for those times, obviously. Doesn't police in the US have similar entry test? There is like 6.2 feet long door and every one who hit their head gets a badge. The catch is that even if you aren't 6.2 long and you jump before entering, you still get badge.
