Wyoming is the last state, in a few ways. It is alphabetically last, and it is also the least populated. There are even fewer people in Wyoming than in Alaska, or tiny Delaware.
It was admitted to the union in 1890, so it's a bit old by Western standards. Many US states did not even become states until the 20th century. Also they gave women certain voting rights a bit ahead of our amendment, which is why it's called "the equality state", a dumb nickname.
Ranching and shepherding animals is common.
The abstract artist Jackson Pollock was born there, and pretty much never went back. Our former vice-president Dick Cheney is from there. About 10 years ago there was a movie about literal gay cowboys called "Brokeback Mountain", which takes place there.
And that's about it.
