does EVERYONE in Japan like anime or is there a group of people that look down on it?
>>

>EVERYONE
No
I think it is as same as your country.
Many anime lovers are nerdy and not active.
Jocks(in here they are called リア充) are not interested in them rather than look down on.

Wait what, jocks exist in Japan? Do they also have bad grades? Even the "gangsta" japs I see have at least two degrees, know two languages and make me feel like shit

just like in my animes

Like in almost any other country, it's really popular among geeks/autists. but they're not a majority. Anime is made for outsiders, it's like that everywhere. Why do you think 4chan loves it so much?
>>
>>57608923
I just googled "jocks in Japan"
bad idea.

There are some "normie core" shows like Attack on Titan you can get away with saying you watch them. Almost everyone watched Dragonball Z that is now around the age of 20-25. Outside of that the most common type of show people are familiar with are relationship drama shows or harem shit. Moe/slice of life is the most niche. 90% of people over the age of 40 can't distinguish between the words anime and hentai.

You should know over 60 age Japanese hate Manga but under that age almost all Japanese like Manga though Anime don't so much.
>>
>>57608596
Quite popular I'd say. 80% of our kiddie tv shows are anime, not cartoons, so kids grow up watching nipshit mostly. Everyone knows the famous ones.
As soon as you go off televised shit however no one knows anything anymore, aside from the 4chan type of people.

God why is something so plain as polkadot ribbons so attractive

Almost everyone 10-30 will know what you're talking about if you mention Dragonball Z/Yu-Gi-Oh/Beyblade/Inuyasha/televised animes, all of these had and some still have lots of merchandise in Israel for little kids (or manchildren if you want a DBZ backback).
Almost everyone that was interested in anime probably tried Bleach, One Piece or Naruto. Probably also watched Shingeki no Kyojin/Death Note/FMA/etc (all those really popular stuff, these are pretty much the stuff you'd also find at anime conventions here).
Almost all the geeky/nerdy people love Miyazaki films even if they aren't into anime.
Never seen or heard a person that likes moeshit.
Some of the people that keep watching anime after a few popular stuff usually get to seinin or less hyped animes or start reading mangas.

Australia's is actually full of weebs, particularly university aged people.

Too fucking damn popular

Everyone between 16 and 25 grew up with the RTL2 animes, anime was pretty popular here. There's a pretty cancerous community called Animexx here (something like German Gaia), but thank god it's been declining in size. Sometimes they organize meetups, the one in my city is banned from McDonalds for starting food fights and pestering other customers.
There's also several conventions and every bookstore has a manga rack.

In USA only weebs and geeks watch it. They consider Anime to be a clear and pure representative of Japanese culture, and one day wish to go to Japan and bask in its glorious culture where they will be worshiped as a Ninja-Samurai-Dragon man and presented with a free Japanese gf.

Vid related. A weeb in Japan.

>>
it's steadily becoming a normie passtime

Yea, by now everyone knows what is anime and have watched some of them.

I would say that Spain is only behind France and Italy in anime being popular.

Aren't manga more popular than anime?
>>
>>57608596
In the past everyone thought that anime was only for nerds then the 2010 reached spain and everyone started to love anime and if you dont love anime you are not cool and they'll see you as scum. Spain logics.
