IA2 7.62 = Imbel FN FAL with green plastic
IA2 5.56 = MD-97L with green paint
IA2 7.62 internally is the same exact thing as the Imbel FN FAL.
The 7.62 and 5.56 versions have nothing in common, they're completely different guns. Imbel just gave them a similar look to look cool.
Thing is, our forces always had FN FAL and MD-97L available to them, so making these guns is useless. Altrought the military's FN FAL are simply being modified into IA2s with kits anyway, they basically remove the metal parts and put the IA2 plastic and call it a new gun.

The main differences that I noticed are that the C7 has a cartridge ejector rod which eliminates any jams, also it's much more durable and has a longer barrel life as well as different optic mountings and an adjustable stock

A short barrel carbine obsoletes the purpose of most sub machine guns, pdw's, handguns, etc. for non front line troops (Which is why the militirization meme has popped up with our SWAT police because they have da scary back raifle) , and is still considered adequate for most infantry purposes. Rifles with longer barrel length fill in the gaps when a unit is expected to fight at a longer range. Despite the memes a large majority of soldiers are satisfied with it and it simplifies logistics which makes it easier to plan upgrades, spare parts/repairs, or modifications like different barrels/optics/etc. if needed.
