Saw an interesting-looking PhD opportunity come up in Canberra that I would stand a fairly good chance of getting, but I just can't become excited about the possibility of living in Australia. So many Brits go travelling around Australia for their gap yah, but I can't understand why. The only city that seems even slightly interesting is Melbourne, and most of the nature is shit and/or dangerous. Sure the beaches are nice, but there are equally nice beaches in southern Europe. Just can't understand this Aussie appeal 2bh.
