When you grow up around Jews, you go to a lot of bar mitzvahs. One thing they all have is loaf of Jew bread called challah. The looks are deceiving to its flavor. It's delicious.
>>57529377

I don't think I've ever seen caramel apples outside of the anglosphere
>>57529508
Nah. It's Jewish challah. It's a ceremonial bread baked under very strict conditions.

Jidan Guanbing.
They're a Chinese street food that's usually eaten for breakfast.
Basically, it's fried dough, and while they're drying it they put an egg inside. It's usually just served with spicy sauce, although you can also get it with chicken and lettuce.

The term koylatch is cognate with the names of similar braided breads which are consumed on special occasions by non-Jews in Eastern Europe. These are the Russian and Ukrainian kalach, the Serbian kolač, the Bulgarian kolak, the Hungarian kalács, and the Romanian colac. These names originated from Proto-Slavic kolo meaning "circle", or "wheel", and refer to the circular form of the loaf.[5][6]
Dirt cake is bretty gud ;DD
Basically it's cream cheese, butter, and pudding mixed together with oreos. The topping is all oreo crumbs, and usually there are jelly worms throughout to make it look more like dirt
I remember having this all the time as a kid a birthday parties, but I haven't seen it anywhere since

People go LOL BRITISH FOOD IS LITERALLY SHIT yet they can't name anything apart from fish and chips, and fish and chips is good so I don't quite understand.
Our puddings are good, and our cheese is joint best in the world with France.
>>57533381
Yeah, it's like a super thick pudding
It's actually pretty good though
>>57533381
I still haver no idea what the thing the Americans call a 'pudding' is. Is it a mousse or something?
>>57533741
I'll never understand that meme, British is actually really good

>>57533876
It's plain, but it's great comfort food.
Can you get pies in the US?
>>57533876
So if I go to a pub, bar or what have you in America and order a cider I will get apple juice?
>>57533945
They only really eat one type of non-fruit pie there a type of chicken pie.
>>57534004
That's shit
>>57533911
Basically you put the pudding and a sort of whipped cream frosting together, and you mix butter, cream cheese and milk together, and then you combine them and mix them with chopped oreos
>>57533741
That looks great, British food is really good, it's just usually heavy and isnt "pretty". But i take meat pies or toad in the hole over paste any day.
>>57534025
Indeed. Pes in America are a weird mystery, they brought pies over with them when we colonised the land and they randomly stopped eating them.
The mystery gets even weirder when you realise they still ate apple pies which they brought over from here, now as apples aren't native to America, they had to plant seeds and wait years for the fruit to be harvested to make the apple pies.
They went to those extreme lengths to keep eating apple pies but just dropped the others they brought with them,
>>57534167
No, what I'm getting at is what do you mean when you say pudding? The dish is a pudding, it's like building a house out of other houses, it doesn't sound right.
>>57529243
Easter?
>>57533945
Only chicken pot pies, like pic related. We don't really have savoury pies other than that. OCCASIONALLY you'll see a mince meat pie around Christmas.
>>57533964
10 years ago, maybe. Recently that's changed though, if you order a cider you can get an actual cider. It'll only be American ciders though, and sometimes Swedish. British cider hasn't come onto the scene yet. I still think there's a lot of money to made importing Thistly Cross, Aspall, etc.
>>57534419
Yes, why don't Americans celebrate Easter by having Easter eggs or hot cross buns?
>>57534294
Pudding in the US is only used with pudding like jello pudding. This is 'pudding' to us, it's more of a separate thing, it's hard to explain.
In the dirt cake example, we'd call that the filling rather than pudding; I wouldn't associate dirt cake filling's texture as pudding because it's too thick and has hard bits. Pudding is only used with really really smooth textured, sweet dishes.
It's really difficult to explain. I know what is a pudding and what isn't (and so do all other Americans) but it's really difficult to explain. Though pic related is a 'pudding', every single American would call it a cake.
Similarly, dirt cake would be a cake with pudding-ish filling, but... it's just called filling.
>>57534419
Do you have easter eggs?
>>57534809
Great, I'll just go and shoot myself for asking.
>>57534809
What the fuck is jello pudding?

I know that yanks call jelly Jello, which is a brand name for a type of jelly that became synonymous with jelly there like hoovers did here.
But everything else my mind is a wank.

>>57535083
No, jelly's jelly and jello's jello, pic related is jelly
Jello is like pudding and jelly is just jelly
>spoiler: jam and jelly are practically interchangeable in the US when talking about sandwiches
>preserves and conserves have almost no meaning because no one knows the difference
>>57534517

>>57535083
>>57535259
Clarification.
Jello is a company that specializes in flavored gelatin and pudding.
When most people call something jello, they are referring to flavored gelatin, because of its associated with the Jello brand. (pic related)
Pudding is dessert goop similar to mousse, but more dense and thick. >>57535128 Most Americans would consider mousse a type of pudding.
