Is 4chan well-known in popular society in other countries? If not, how did you (non-Americans) discover 4chan?
>>57527377
No, it's not popular in my country.
>how did you discover 4chan?
I literally just found a link to one of the boards while sifting through the comments section of a YouTube video.
It was /mlp/.
>>57527377
Heard the " 4chan is evil" memes.
It's somewhat known but most people think is all haxords, scat, gore and lolis being raped
>>57527377
I knew about 4chan for a long time but the 2-3 times I had visited I went to /b/ and got disgusted. I went to explore the rest of the site after the "fappening" and I liked /int/.
I don't know how popular 4chan is in Greece though, because I don't talk about it irl, but I guess most young people with access to the internet have at least heard about it.
>>57527377
They literally still believe this is an 3p1c h@xx0rs website.

>Is 4chan well-known in popular society in other countries?
I guess it is "known" but not popular. Most of the non-english countries have their own forum that work like 4chan
>how did you (non-Americans) discover 4chan?
I don't know, Anime probably?
>>57527377
i dunno about country but it is very popular in my school
i know at least 20 person who go /b/ and one who go to /int/ and /pol/
Saw it on Fox News when they did that anonymoose coverage story. I thought it looked pretty cool and checked it out

>Is 4chan well-known in popular society in other countries?
no
>how did you discover 4chan?
funnyjunk was complaining too much so i came and see what was the ruckus about
>>57527917
>school
I don't know how I am here
>>57527377
not popular at all
I guess I discovered it by browsing american internet
>>57527377
It's not popular at all here. Found 4chan through its notoriety, someone mentioned it on a videogame forum and things sort of went downhill from there.
>>57527377
>>57527978
>Funnyyunk
>not orkut
GET OUT
>>57527377
moot had said that something like 1% of the nation of Australia use 4chan daily.
>>57528218
>orkut
wat
>>57527917
>talk about 4chan irl
kek
seriously cringeworthy
I'm not sure, it probably isn't very well-known.
I found out about it from a friend back in 2008, he showed me /b/ when moot had filtered everything posted there to 'ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH" after watching TTGL.
>>57527656
in a nutshell it is
>>57528261
You didn't use orkut in Paraguay?
It was the most used social network here circa 2004~2010
some youtube video, a guy said something negative about 4chan then said "ok guys, please be nice, you guys are cool. don't destroy my life."
that peaked my interest
>>57528431
>peaked
>>57527377
I was an edgy kid and thought I could find illegal stuff on /b/
>>57528526
Well you could, depending on when you started browsing.
>>57528573
yes there was a cp thread the first day I was browsing /b/
>>57528407
of course i used it but wasn't it shut down in 2004?
>>57527377
I fapped to naruto hentai or someshit like that back in 2007 and the guy who posted it said that there are a lot of hentai thread on 2ch(russian 4chan). I didn't know what it was and my friend said it's like an ordinary forum. I visited it and didn't like it. But after a year I discovered some Warcraft 3 forum and some guy said that 2ch is a cool site, I visited it again and liked it. I was on 2ch till 2011 and then moved to 4chan b (I heard about it on 2ch). And then some guy said that int is the same b but with flags and now I am here
>>57527377
It could be well-known.
But the webmasters of affiliate sites (especially all-nationz), which tell() overseas people's reactions make misleading translations on purpose.
I take a poor view of them and consider people like them liars or criminals (prospective criminals).
Then, the Japanese people who trust their articles() come to 4chan and speak terrible English.
Watch for the affiliate sites and the Japanese posters who speak too bad English and have a narrow mind.
>>57528831
I always found the existence of Japanese 'gaijinvision' blog sites endlessly amusing. It's like some weird voyeuristic activity perfectly reflective of your cultural mindset.
>>57527377
1) everyone who has ever used the internet knows what 4ch is
2)back in 2006 through some friends who thought that since i liked rotten i would like 4ch, i did, briefly
I think that 4Chan is pretty well-known here.
>how did you discover 4chan?
A friend showed me
Through twobluecrabs i think
Checked out first and really didnt get the layout and didnt think it was as epic as the screencaps made it
Tried again a few years later for some reason
>>57528337
It probably depends on where you are in Brasil, it actually usually depends where you are in Brasil. I know at last 4 classmates that came here.
I first knew of 4chan when I was browsing KYM for internet content; Then I decided to visit /b/, and then I stopped at /pol/, /x/, /co/ and /sci/.
This is the first time I came to browse /int/ and /lit/, mostly because I'm trying to better myself, instead of listening to asocial /sci/ STEM elitists.
>>57528888
before those shitty gaijinvision blogs, there were already filled with the same type of blogs, like "2chvision" blogs
>>57529373
>instantly picks up on and adapts my neologism
I'm impressed, fellow American.
>>57529412
i like word game and anagram and breaking up/reconstructing words because its fun. 4chan is the only english site where i can do it. aside from meme sites, in other sites, especially in english learning sites, everyone refrains it and doesnt try to make something fun in english. i dont like it.
