Do you feel a nostalgia feel from utility poles?
If so, please post them in this thread.
You often see some big buckets attached to utility poles. Pic is related. Those are a equipment that decreases high electrical voltage to low voltage.
The last time I've seen utility poles in the city center was in the early 90s. Everything was moved underground here and only places on the edge of the city have them and even then it's only temporary.
Indian one.

Replacing the utility lines requires much money.
Utility poles are everywhere in Japan, but people don't care about them so much.
My area doesn't have many utility poles except along major road was because we buried most of them due to the fear of having utility poles downed everywhere if an earthquake hits.

I guess it's more practical to have the lines aboveground when your country is endangered with earthquakes. The worst thing that can happen to them here is strong winds.
>>57526234
No. I hate them. They break the sky.
>>57526784
That's about when almost all overground cables went below too here at least inside settlements
>>57526960
Isn't it because of M9 earthquakes?
>>57526234
I heard there are a lot of utility Poles in Britain and Germany.
>>57527139
;^)
>>57527093
Burying power lines is god awfully expensive. It's cheaper to just get a new pole and have the power up that way.
>>57527139
Almost missed this desu
TIL those things are now underground in other countries
>>57527216
I guess it gets cheaper with higher population density though

We have many internal arguments/discussions about removing utility poles, but it hasn't been succeeded yet. We have tons of utility poles in our land already, so it costs uncountable money.

Why is my country so backwards?
>>57527074
But sometime, the sky with utility poles gives an artistic scene.
My childhood memories are always scenes with utility poles.
>>57527093
I've heard burying utility lines is safer than building the poles. In common, underground is safer when an earthquake occurs.
>>57527522
I don't know, I still hate it. It's like a mushroom network made of metal that suffocates the land.
>>57527620
I guess maybe for very mild ones like we get (<4). But locating and re-excavating after a serious one is probably more expensive than just setting up the crashed pole again
>>57527678
That's right. Gas pipe lines are buried in Japan unlike other utility lines. When the gas lines get damaged by a massive earthquake, it takes more time than others.
Usually, after we lost all utilities, electricity is first resumed, then telephone (internet), water and finally gas.

The area I'm in was able to afford it for parts of the city but it takes a while because you have to dig up sections and lay the wires and protective stuff, ect.

There are some manga for the utility poles' lovers.
I personally think all the poles are males if they were a sort of animals.
Utility poles block to see views from the windows, but there is a small benefit to have the poles.
Since there is a utility pole in my parent's house, electricity company pays $30 a month to them.

Damn Japan will personify anything as a little girl. And I thought Personifying tanks and guns was bad.
>>57526812
How do Indian cities not burn to the ground at least twice a year?
>>57529258
There are tons of the poles in neighborhood, so people can personify them so easily. No one will be harm by this. This is very peaceful.
>>57529325
Maybe, their poles are so designated not to burn.
>>57529850
Should have read the thread desu.
>>57527139
It looks third world tbqh.
We don't have them at all here, not even in (the few) unpopulated areas.
Utility poles can even human lives.
>>57529850
A bit laughed.
I have not ever seen any of Poles in real life...
>>57530322
Utility poles can even *save human lives.
>>57530264
You can see many of the poles in central area of Tokyo.
It gives me a feel of home country.
We have two different type of electricity in Japan. East of Japan, we use 50Hz of electricity, and west of Japan, we use 60Hz of electricity. In the border area, you can see some utility poles indicates that it has 50 or 60Hz of electricity.

Nostalgia? wtf?
I hate the mess they create, all power lines/cables should be put underground.
My country is too poor to remove them.
Also, Portuguese are niggers and enjoy build their shitty houses close to the street.
lel that's fucking 3rd wolrd shit right there
