I love Russia because of the architecture, literature, art, music and fascinating history and culture. The geopolitics of Russia are also very interesting.
As if Kievan Rus and the Russian empire weren't interesting enough, The Soviet Union of Socialist Republics was the single most unique and interesting state in world history, the idea of a society consciously deciding that its purpose is progressing toward Communism. This unique national vision made for some excellent music.
The Russian revolution and the original Soviet constitution that followed are unbeknownst to us the foundation of many things that we use to define "Western Freedom" like gender and race equality.
The Russians I have interacted with have never done me wrong, and some I consider friends. I have just recently read War and Peace, and I am always becoming more interested.
Some day in my life I hope to visit Russia. Moscow and St. Petersburg at the very least, perhaps ride the Transcontinental express. Russia is just too big to visit all of it in one lifetime.
