there's an interesting book - basically a report of a co-prisoner of Jurgen Stroop, just before his execution, with the story how it all began with elections in Lindau (when the Nazi party launched propaganda, won there, then won all around). kinda shows the mentality of the Nazis, and some of Germans back then in general - at least via references to "Ordnung" all the time
