We got promised a permanent seat at the UN security council by the end of WW2, but then the US didn't honor the agreement.

Sweden and Norway's refusal to allow a British force through Norwegian ports and past the Swedish iron mines to Finland stemmed from the fact that it was never intended for Finland in the first place.
