They have already stolen most of the f-35 data.

Amazingly though, as far as we know no one has ever been able to reproduce American fighter jet engines.

Russia and China have had access to them for years, but the actual process of making them and their software is very difficult to copy.

It's not a big deal for the Russians though. They simply have gone the "fucj the lifespan for more power" route.

The Chinese have improved, but are still behind. Spent like $55 billion on their engine program the last 10 years.

Well the F-22 represents a 5th gen fighter and they decided to settle with around 200 jets instead of the planned 2000+ because there is no plane in the world which can challenge it.

The F-35 would also be a 5th gen plane.

A-10's are substantially less useful if you can't reliably protect them in the air.

Unless you are looking at stopping masses of armor columns crossing the Fulda Gap, the A-10 is a bad choice.

Sure it will, it's already in service with the Marines in fact. There's still patches and upgrades being done to the software with each new production run but that's why the Marines get it first, because no one cares about them.

That said a lot of cool shit it can do in terms of information exchange and battlespace management smaller air forces will never be able to take advantage of in a scenario where their allies aren't involved because they simply don't have the infrastructure needed to do so. But lets be real if any country like Denmark is in a SHTF scenario where they need that capability they'll have the USAF, RAF and France's gay Air Army to augment their forces and provide said infrastructure.

"Low and slow" might work against inbred tribal fucks who consider four AKs strapped together and mounted on a pickup to be adequate air defense, but against a modern power the Warthog is just completely outmatched, both by the defensive capabilities of enemy armor and the offensive capabilities of enemy anti-air.

Indeed. Moreover a Super Tucano would do the same at a fraction of the price.

The A-10 is literally worthless now, it can't even punch through modern armor.

Yes it would, if it was still 1977 and our greatest fear was a soviet tank with armor made from milk crates and sheets of steel scavenged from old ration cans.

Also, the US procurement process for foreign made military equipment is retarded and takes years.

They can't even get congress to okay the purchase of Brimstone missiles from us and we're pretty much your closes allies.

You DO know the UK has the largest role in Meteor development, right?

>The percentage share of the programme allocated to each partner nation has changed several times over the years. Germany's decision to reduce its intended acquisition resulted in the UK taking 5% of the programme from Germany, giving the UK 39.6% and Germany 16%. France is funding 12.4%, Italy 12%, and Sweden and Spain 10% each.

Is single engine an actual concern?

Why do people always bitch about it?

The US has operated a ton of single engine fighters for multiple branches, including the Navy.

American engines are reliable as fuck. I don't see a problem with it.
>>
>>57446365
Developed your own version of the Harrier, and BAE had to set up shop in the US. Selling something that was made in Europe directly to the US is what's almost impossible.

There are some exceptions, like Rolls Royce engines and turbines
>>
>>57446190
No but surely you are.

You can't just put an F-16 in your pocket for transport. You need to have established bases of operation. Although there would be benefits to a capitalist Venezuela you'd still have a hard time convincing the congress that such an endeavor is worth it. It probably isn't, and yes your fantasies require gov approval and not just yours since we live in a democracy not your personal fascist fantasies.

Nice Iraq question dodge faggot, and learn to map.

People are really fucking stupid and think because Russians and Chinks can't into good design, maintainence, or safety that means Americans and NATO can't

You can kill snackbars using 50 year old equipment quite easily.

Brimstones are cool because you can just bulk launch a ton of them in the general direction of a bunch of tanks and they'll have a chat, each pick a target, and destroy them.

Also, you were literally just praising a £1m missile...

To be fair,

1. It's a really nice missile

2. It's an air-to-air missile, so it won't be used frequently for bombing and stuff. I'm ok with a £1m missile if it ensure air superiority against the best our enemies might have

Lmao source required.

No one knows the real unit cost of a 35 yet. It has not been announced. It's only most likely cheaper because already 100 more have been made then the 22.

The last 22 was made for $98 million engine included.
>>

Precisely, air-to-air missiles aren't something you just pop a few dozen off during an air show for shits and giggles. We're much better off firing one decent missile than a dozen shitty ones that dummy off at a moment's notice.

Honestly, £1m is actually a pretty cost effective, considering just how much damage your average enemy plane can rack up, if left unchecked.

What are nukes?

We're simply saying we need cheap shit and expensive shit. The high low strategy.
>>
>>57446759

They are prototypes as well.

It's an extremly delicate, sophisticate and complex process to develop a next-gen plane. One prototype will not do.
>>
>>57447075
It isn't. The A-10 literally serves no purpose other than starring in youtube videos 16 year olds masturbate to.
>>
>>57447132
>The high low strategy.
That phrase doesn't mean what you think it means.
>>
>>57444780
Nice proof.

War has only been increasing since 03, and there is no empirical basis to claim overwhelming force keeps war from happening in the world.

Americans nowadays barely support minor wars against those who killed thousands of our people.
>>
>>57447171
A-10 is more useful than F-35 in present climate.
>>
>>57438245
Military is rather pointless in this day and age, we already have nukes as a deterrent. The only ones who actually want to go to war are ISIS and other small groups, you hardly need much of a military to deal with them. We should just have one small global military to deal with this and also keep the national secret services.. and nations would save trillions of dollars and spend it on, you know, things that actually matter.
>>
>>57441921

I think you made the right call. On the current trajectory Polan will be the best country to live in by 2075.
>>
>>57447132
>What are nukes?
Diplomatic tools and weapons of last resort. If the war against the nuclear modern great power is waged away from the homeland then it's extremely unlikely nukes will be used. Examples:

Royal Navy and Russian Navy in the North Sea
Chinese Navy and US Navy in the South China Sea
Russian air force and US air force in Syria
>>
>>57447235
No it isn't. More useful at what?
>>
>>57447235
>>57447075
It's true though.

Either you fight a modern super power, in which case the A-10 is woefully under-equipped, or you fight sandniggers in which case a drone piloted by someone 4,000 miles away is just as effective at a fraction of the cost.
>>
>>57446467
Because if you lose it you lose the plane.
Not the same if you have two.

>>57446619
What about when a missile hits the plane?
>>
>>57444233

I feel like the Super Tucano is a vastly underutilized aircraft in western militarizes.

When you're fighting guys with AK47's you really don't need to be going 1,500 miles an hour. Wish we'd buy some. It'd keep our running costs down.
