>tfw our neighbours actually though that at some point they could defeat Brazil in a war
Argentina was always the only treat to Brazil in South America.
>>
>>57422979
What about Columbia, they seem stong too

Fuck Acre, what happens in Roraima?
>>
>>57423024
Gran Colombia was at one point a treat, but they lasted barely over a decade, and I am pretty sure we even own a part of what it used to be.
But just Colombia? Maybe the ability to be a huge nuisance, but never an actual treat to our sovereignty.
>>
We should never have gotten rid of the Empire, we could still own cisplatina today, and maybe even the rest of the Amazon, which should be ours by the way.
Having a parliamentarist monarchy would be pretty dope, probably better than what we have now.

Why does the state exist in the first place? Looks to me it should just be part of Amazonas
>>
>>57423405
Colombia has a population bigger than Argenyina, and will probably become weañthier than Argentina in our life time. They also have experienced troops and lots of resources. I would say that they are a bigger threat than Argentina right now.
>>
>>57423777
I don't know
>>
>>57423891
And Brazil has more population than the rest of South America combined, so it doesn't matter who's the strongest among the rest.

Money, corruption and incompetence.

>mfw a friend of mine asked if Acre was a country.
>>
>>57423891
But they also have a shit economy and shit leadership. There is still a lot that needs to change there before they become a regional treat, also their troops are hardly experienced, fighting a bunch of drug dealers and "terrorists" in a jungle is not the same as fighting an actual army.
And even so, in these last decades Brazil has created friendly ties with nearly every country on Latin America (or even the world). War is pretty much a moot point for us because the chance it happens is really low.
>>
>>57423938
I was just talking relatively speaking. And the biggest enemy of Brazil right now is Brazil, with all the economic stagnation and inestability.
>>
>>57422979
Suriname stronk
>>
>>57423891
They don't even have money to keep their army functioning in a war.
They would run out of food and fuel before even reaching Manaus.

I am not only talking about war. Economically speaking, they are the only ones that can challenge Brazil's model,as it is happening right now. Colombia's economy may grow the fastest in SA with Peru and Chile, while the mercosur block will probably stagnate, because China will probably slow down its economic growth
>>
>>57424234
Any army would run out of resources before crossing the amazon on land.
>>
>>57424152
That has always been the case. Whenever Brazil stays too much time with the same political system, things start to break down and then comes the coup.

>tfw Vargas is dead
>>
>>57424234
Is not just about war. Is about power and economic projection. And Colombia may be able to do that if the prospects becomes true. They have a growing population, and lots of capital is pouring into the country.
>>
>>57424333
Is the seccession of some regions viable,or just an internet thing?
>>
>>57424029
It was at some point though

It will stay take a lot for Colombia to even reach Brazil's GDP.
We have around 2 trillion dollars. They have a quarter of that.
But I will admit Brazil is in a shit moment right now, it will probably take two or more years for we to return to the level we were at in 2014 and continue to grow.
>>
>>57424649
I am not talking about being equal. Only Mexico will surprass Brazil in our life time,I am talking about competition. Colombia may boom in the next couple of years, and will probably become the undisputed 2nd economy in South America. And they have created their own sphere of influence outside of mercosur.
>>
>>57424418
Absolute internet thing. There are some "The South is my Country" type of people, but as a southerner I can confirm that nobody actually takes these people seriously.
>>
>>57424765
Ok. I see a split of Brazil being the only posibility to lose all its sphere of influence, but I guess is way more stable than some Brazilians make it to be.
>>
>>57424729
Sure, but you are ignoring the Latin American factor. Every time things start to get too good, we manage to fuck it up. I think Argentina will actually start to regain influence and better their economy with Macri.
>>
>>57424973
I dont really know. Colombia is gaining strenght in sectors like manufacturing, while Argentina is pretty much an agrarian and service economy. Their population seems to be stagnating,or not growing much, while Colombia is growing demographically. Colombia has more resources and a healthier economy for the moment, with lots of free trade agreements with Europe,China and the USA. If things dont go to shit,Colombia should be SA second biggest economy by quite a margin

All your border with Colombia is thousand of miles of amazonian jungle, neither really has the capability to attack the other without massive loses.
>>
>>57425101

Argentina's economy is still almost twice as big Colombia's. While right now it's not doing well, things change quickly and for Colombia to overtake Argentina they will still need decades.
>>
>>57423676
As I recall it was never even in the general public's interest to remove Pedro, only some higher-ups in the military at the time. But old Pedro was tired anyways and who can blame him from the fucked up life he had, so he basically left it at that. But still, who knows what Brazil could've been.
>>
>>57424765

Because you are all sissies. You literally betrayed Sao Paulo when you had a chance to become an independent nation. São Paulo stay stronk.
