I you look at what happened to Spain, which was considered a model country before the crisis, you'll see it was the private debt exploding that caused the issue. Sweden could have very well ended p like Spain. FInland started out with relatively low debt levels, and the increase in those has been what has allowed the demand to be maintained.
Sweden has it's own central bank and keeps throwing money at the economy, which allows the debts to be serviced. This could not e maintaned indefinitely in the EMU.
There has been plenty of economists who warned that the only way to grow under EMU regime is increase in private debt, inevitably leading to crisis when they can no longer be serviced. The fact that FInland had OK growth before the crisis proves nothing.
It should also be mentioned that Finnish Markka was tied to the Euro with a very low exchange rate. So they impoverished Finns before even joining EMU and Finland spend years catching up in purchasing power.
