Not really. Up until the 1950s-60s it was a predominantly white city. The promise of high-paying jobs brought in loads of blacks from the south, similar to Chicago. However, unlike Chicago, whites fled the city en masse due to falling costs of living. And since the car industry left the city in the 60s and then the US car industry as a whole was shit afterward, the city went to hell.

Quite a few cities in Norway look pretty unpleasant tbqh. That said, it does have an okay city centre, and okay surrounding nature. But that doesn't make up for the commies, immigrants or overall heavy industrial feel of the place.
