He controls Russia's media, he's a murder, he invades neighboring countries to intimidate them, he changed Russia's laws so he could rule until he dies, he takes bribes, he gives his buddies top positions in the country, and he protects other dictators.

Why do most Russians love him so much?.
>>
>>57346684
Russians like authoritarianism, the worse the ruler, the more loved he is.

No it was a lot worse.

Giving Putin credit for the economy growing or not, is not exactly accurate.

Putin can be thanked for stabilizing Russia and providing security.

Now Russia has to fight corruption and establish rule of law. Hopefully sanctions ending can help it reconnect to the outside world.

Not really. At $30 a barrel (same price as 1999) the economy per person is 4x higher.

From $1300 to $8500 after the ruble devalued.

So something happened. I just think it was more the Russian citizen becoming more productive and stability being instilled, not some economic policy of the government.

Good politics (not just economic policies) can help the economy grow.

>killing in Russia

There were 20,000 murders in Russia last year. This is just as likely done by some low-level UR politician who wanted to prove his loyalty.

Like, the whole "MUH RUSSIA INVADED UKRAINE"

What most tend to not realize is that the Maidan-coup in Kiev was orchestrated by Washington.

>"Annexation of Crimea"
Most ppl in Crimea are Russian anyway and rightful Russian clay. Why would they wanna be part of Nazi Ukraine?

It doesn't make sense. Kosovo gets independence illegally, and only reason for it's creation is to have a NATO base closer to Russia.
But Crimea has a peaceful and legal referendum and West says "it's illegal"

t. double standards

It's kind of like comparing apples and oranges.

Russia annexed all of the territories they invaded (Crimea, Donbass, South Ossetia, etc). They're stable, but they're no longer their own. Their freedom to decide their own fate is gone forever. If they ever decide for self-determination, too damn bad.

We overthrew dictators and gave the people a choice. They went for Islamofacism (WHY). It's all very disappointing. It's like we have to choose between enslaving the countries under a dictator (see: Chechnya), or letting them go ISIS-tier. What the fuck are we supposed to do? These people obviously cannot handle democracy like we can.
>>
>>57354120
Nah Crimea chose to join Russia.
The Ukraine provinces wanted to join Russia, but in the Minsk 2 treaty Russia negotiated for the provinces to have self rule inside the sovereign nation of Ukraine.

Abkhazia and South Ossettia are also mostly indepedent regions.

So your comparison is wrong.

>Russia annexed all these territories.
Russia annexed them? Where's the proof? At the UN, US and Ukraine claimed Russia was sending in troops. Russia asked for proof and neither gave proof.
These regions (Crimea, Donbass, S. Ossetia, ect..) are either mostly filled with Russians, or want to be part of Russia. There's no annexing going on. This is the will of the people in THESE regions - join up with Russia.

> We overthrew dictators and gave people a choice.
Really now? Let's see..

> Iraq
Saddam Hussein kept secular in the country (albeit kinda crazy). America took him out and now Iraq is total chaos.

> Honduras.
President (who did not support US interests) who was democratically elected by Hondurans was overthrown.

> Chile
US overthrew Communist president and replaced them with a fascist who went around killing commies.

> Libya
Gaddhafi kept secular and stability. US took him out illegally and how Libya is a breeding ground for ISIS.

Democracy, liberalism - those are just words on a signpost. But the reality is more like the microflora in your guts. In the West, all your microbes balance each other out, it’s taken centuries for you to reach that stage. They all quietly get on with generating hydrogen sulphide and keep their mouths shut. Everything’s fine-tuned, like a watch, the total balance and self-regulation of the digestive system, and above it - the corporate media, moistening it all with fresh saliva every day. That kind of organism is called "the open society" - why the hell should it close down, it can close down anyone else it wants with a couple of air strikes. The question is, how do you arrive at this condition? What they taught us to do was to swallow salmonella with no antibodies to fight it, or other microbes to keep it in check at all. Not surprisingly we developed such a bad case of diarrhoea that three hundred billion bucks had drained out before we even began to understand what was going on. And we were only given two choices - either to run out completely once and for all through some unidentified asshole, or take antibiotics for ages and ages, then slowly and carefully start all over again. But differently.
>>
>>57356390
That's actually a really good analogy Ivan.

And it's correct. You guys are way behind us, democracy-wise. No offense. It's to be expected, since you abolished serfdom long after the rest of us had.

Russian president is elected directly. In the US a 500 person electoral collage does it. In canada something like 100 people from the same party do it.
Russia also has a dozen parties ranging from anarchic to fascist, to US puppets to payriots.

Russia is more democratic and lawful on paper and practice.

Um...
>The thirteenth amendment, abolishing slavery except as punishment for a crime, was passed by the Senate in April 1864, and by the House of Representatives in January 1865.[140] The amendment did not take effect until it was ratified by three fourths of the states, which occurred on December 6, 1865, when Georgia ratified it. On that date, all remaining slaves became officially free.

Meanwhile in Russia
>The 1861 Emancipation Manifesto proclaimed the emancipation of the serfs on private estates and of the domestic (household) serfs. By this edict more than 23 million people received their liberty.[1] Serfs gained the full rights of free citizens, including rights to marry without having to gain consent, to own property and to own a business. The Manifesto prescribed that peasants would be able to buy the land from the landlords. Household serfs were the least affected: they gained only their freedom and no land.

I read a piece on Sergey Glazyev, he's an advisor to Putin.

He's also sanctioned by the US and banned from the US.

His world view is unique. He believes there is a global conspiracy against Russia with the US as the chief orchestrator. He believes the US controls the global media, and controls over 30+ counties by proxy.

He also believes the US will suffer economic collapse in the near future.

He genuinely believes that Ukraine is run by Nazis. Although I had heard this from average Russians before, I believed that they knew it was mostly propaganda, I did not expect that Russia's decision makers would genuinely believe this was the case. (He also believes Ukraine is controlled by the US)

an interesting person to say the least.
