Hey non-Americans;

Do people in your country give a shit when one of their athletes makes it into an American professional sports league? Do they continue to give a shit throughout said athlete's career, or do they stop caring after a month or so?

No.

It's extremely hard to follow anmerican leagues in Europe, as most games are played after midnight. No way people would watch a Spurs vs Warriors when it starts at 2h30 am at best.

Mario Ledesma

People know Dirk Nowitzki obviously but 95% couldn't tell you his position let alone what that position's role is

H-He's a center right

Don't know if you were being ironic when you asked this (judging by where you're from), but...

That is Manu Ginobili, an Argentinean basketball player who's a starting player for the San Antonio Spurs (a team who's all-star line-up seems to consist entirely of foreigners and Tim Duncan)

It's not like people would actually care, but they mention it from time to time. It was kind of a big deal when Dirk Nowitzki got a NBA contract.

NBA: yes
Every other sport: no

Only sport I can think that we play, and american league is relevant, is basketball.
Not really, but sport media report it so its just "good for him".
>Do they continue to give a shit throughout said athlete's career, or do they stop caring after a month or so?
Not really. If they do well the sport media report it so its just "good for him".

It may be because there isn't someone that have done something big in NBA, the most promising one is Antentokoumpo, some meh and many failures. People don't care too much, they care more about their greek teams for sure.
