Wew someone who knows dick about U.S. catholics. The're Catholic because they don't love heretics and sects. The only Catholic sect I can think of is Mel Gibson's which rejects Vatican 2 if anything that makes everyone else a heretic.
There's something to be said about how devout the population of Catholics actually is when picking a pope from among them. There's lots of 'catholics' in Canada but the last time they saw the inside of a church was when they voted.
