Not because everything is stellar here (high prices and taxes), but have one thing not many countries have: freedom and freedom to choose. We can vote on every little thing and have an active democratic process. Don't like something? Vote against it. If you win, boom, it's done. This is now the official course of your country. And nobody can change it. The government HAS to follow it. Not like in other nations where you can vote for a president or representatives which may or may not follow the course you intended by voting for them.

You know as well as I do that even after a vote it takes ages until they actually work out something, usually in a heavily modified form, and then implement it. Plus it's still subject to many international treaties.
