The Urdu script is beautiful.

She said some really horrible things about me to my face. It hurts because they are true lol. I am a huge douchebag.

Update: She just texted me. She wants to "talk".
Wanting to lighten the situation, I made some silly off the cuff remark. (Sounded funny in my head). Thinking I am being nonchalant and a jerk, she thought it prudent to end the conversation with a terse 'k'. I hate it when she has the last word.

Pretty much yes. Of course, Arabic uses a different, more straightforward writing style called Naskh, plus Urdu employs a lot of new letters for sounds non-existing in Arabic (like P or G).
Doesn't Hindustani have cases (even if fewer than Russian) too?

Also, why do you learn it?

One thing I've found strange is that some of the eminent Muslim Hindustani Classical musicians have a reverence for goddess Saraswati. One the one hand you have Muslims saying that they will not say Bharat Mata ki jai and then you have Muslim musicians who bow to Saraswati before they play their instrument.

Just one question - I use one program for learning Hindi and it says that:
1. "This is my mother" is "Yah meeree maan hain"
2. "This is my father" is "Yah meeree pita hain"
but
3. "This is my sister" is"Yah meeree bahan hai"
4. "This is my brother" is "Yah meeree bhaee hai"

My question is - why there is no nasal "hain" in sentences 3 and 4? It has something to do with politeness towards parents (like "hain" is more polite than "hai") or maybe it's some mistake in my program?
>>
>>57284822
>>57284431
there are three cases in Hindi - dependent, independent and vocativus (independent=nominal, dependent=all other case, except for vocativus)

Yeah, this seems to be the reason. Now that I think about it the nasal sound comes when referring to all the elders. Mama-Mami, Chacha-Chachi, Dada-Dadi

No videos. I was at a live concert where Ustad Shujaat Khan ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLnKJgFnINQ ) did it. And I'm pretty sure I was at another concert where Ustad Amjad Ali Khan or Ustad Zakir Hussain (don't really remember exactly who) mentioned Saraswati in their chit-chat before the performance.

Well, the problem lies in the lack of examples of use. A good thesaurus is a must-have for any language learner.

Then I'd choose пoбoлтaть as the translation: it doesn't have this negative connotation.

It's simple. He was there to attend some conference on terrorism and shit. After this, he went to Saudi Arabia. He's now doing his baniya thing there and hoping to get some investment.

Judging on my spiritual experience, once you understand that God is, by paraphrazing Pierre-Simon Laplace's words, redundant in the general scheme of things, you can't get back to a deistic worldview. Apparently they just were superficial atheists, followed their peers or the mode, and were believers inside.
>>
>>57293743
Man, I've never been to Moscow's theaters, I can't give you advice, sorry.
>>
>>57293644
Well, usually people can't stand thas kind of spiritual emptiness they have in the West, so some of them do drugs, some drink a lot, some engage in strange political movements or sects etc. I guess for many of them the simplicity of Islam may be quite attractive - just think, first they didn't belong anywhere and now they have some kind of "higher" purpose.
>>
>>57293775
>you can't get back to a deistic worldview
One thing you should learn after the collapse of the communism is that there is no such thing as historical inevitability. I'm not surprised that you invoked Laplace's materialist views, but actually even today's materialism is quite different and it may be much stranger tomorrow. I this regard this 18th century philosophy is really naive.
>>
>>57294326
>I this regard
In this...
>>
>>57294326
Nevertheless, I find this philosophy very well suited for my conception of the world. I'm not especially into theoretical stuff. I tend to learn by the examples from history rather than from philosophical treaties.

OK, I won't argue, just remember this Popper's reasoning:
1. human social structures depend on scientific progress (industry, medicine, communication etc.)
2. you can't predict future scientific discoveries (or regression too, BTW), if you could then you would made them today
3. ergo - you can't predict future structures of human society

OK, I'm going to bed, udachi with your Arabic studies!

Apparently Disco Dancer was very popular in USSR and a few middle eastern countries.

>Nothing, man. She probably just found me out

Found what about you?

>I don't even miss her.

That's good I suppose. Makes everything easier.

>How's your 3HO cult coming along?

Great. How are the Hindus nationalists treating you?

Hey you guys, why are your immigrants to the US so proficient in medicine? I swear it's like every Indian in my pharmacy program has an eidetic memory and just shits information and gets good grades.

>>
>>57301587
Do you study/work? Where? Just curious, feel free to disregard these questions.
>>
>>57301641
Yep, enrolled in university here. I live in Queens, New York. I work in a library at the moment
>>
>>57301748
>I work in a library at the moment
It's the job of my dream ;_;

Does it require any qualification?
>>
>>57301786
>Job of my dream
It's a university library bro, not exactly the same as a normal library. All I do is stack books and other media, clean the place up, and provide resource assistance when needed. Not really a top tier position but, I like it.

As for qualification, do you mean for actual librarians or someone of my position?

I'm not sure how it would go in Russia, were you planning to go study in the US?
>>
>>57301957
Nah, just if I could have it as a low-tier job, I'd take that. It just isn't degrading as a job of a fastfood cashier, and I really like books.
>were you planning to go study in the US?
Nope.
>>
>>57302028
Well for my position I was able to get it because I volunteered at a local library before with 80 hours of service, so I knew about it pretty well. Plus, a good gpa must be kept.

See if you can get a volunteer position somewhere there. Then carry on from there.

Could you rate her pronunciation? She speaks from 2:30.
>>
>>57302208
Has a noticeable accent, but her pronunciation is good. I can understand her well.
>>
>>57302377
Nice. It's almost 6am here, I don't sleep and bother a random anon with my questions.

Life is wonderful.
>>
>>57302416
It's cool. Anymore questions?
>>
>>57302505
Nope, I guess.
>>
>>57302526
Alright, peace out Russian bro.

Is this thread still active?

If so, how's everyone doing?
>>
>>57302581
Late night, I've been alright. How are you?
>>
>>57302618

Yeah I've been good, been watching a lot of cricket.

It sucks that the paki basically ruined /desi/, there's a short thread every few days.
>>
>>57302660
I think he gave up in the last thread. It was funny seeing him get BTFO by someone in the Bahamas.
>>
>>57302729
Yeah I saw that, we should have more /desi/ + /carib/ threads.
>>
>>57302581
I'm ok but I wish I had a bottle of cheap vodka.

Would be cool but, it needs a special name.

>>57302808
I'll be off alcohol for a while now. Finished a bottle of shit tequila with my friends and had a day-long hangover.

How religious are Malays? How many of them break their religious rules in secret?
>>
>>57303025
Malays are extremely religious and superstitious. My friends have lived most of their life outside so they don't really give a shit about religion. They were eating pork sausages and drinking beer for dinner. Most of them don't break their religious rules though, it's only the young adventurous ones.
