Anyone here learning a new language through media?

4chan convinced me to watch some anime and I'm actually shocked at how much I can learn just by listening and deducing the meaning of certain words.

that can work with languages that have similar structure, it's how 70s-90s Estonians learned Finnish
however Japanese sentence structures are nothing like English, I wouldn't recommend learning that way

Basically this >>57275694. Lines on anime are too theatrical, especially the ones on the modern moeshit anime are nowhere near real Japanese.

Duolingo and Memrise are okay tools for faggots who can't stay committed or aren't willing to engage in lengthy learning sessions. That probably describes most of the users here, admittedly, but using those is far from "the right way" to learn a language. At best Memrise is effective for grinding your vocabulary while Duolingo is a quick sample of the language before you decide whether you're actually interested.

that's quite a rare Trudeau you have there
>>
if you stay committed, duolingo can bring you to a B2 level if you also study with other materials, so no i wouldnt say its a "quick" preview

Oh boy here we go.Sorry for a lot of mistakes.
I feel so envious to english speaking ppl because they shouldn't learn english.Everying in this world in english. If you know english you can travel almost in every country.I know russain. And where's fuck do i need russian language?Only in rus-talking countries.Do you need guide about something? No fucking problem you'll get it in english. When i fucking need something i can find it in english but i'll understand only 20-30% of information. That's so sad.Like 5 years old i thought english don't need for me, like for what?Don't know english - you're trash. My english suck, sorry.I hope you understand.
