Fedora my ass. Evolution proves the existence of god, in my eyes. Calling something like evolution a conjecture though is ridiculous since we can observe things like bacteria which can watch evolve very quickly.
Like if you told a goat that a lamborghini started off thousands of year ago as a wooden wheel, then presented to him all the different stages of carts leading up to the automobile, he'd say it was cool but it can't be proved since he didn't see it happen. It doesn't really contradict Judaism all that much. The mainstream Judaism wives science as a study of "how" G-d created the world while Judaism is the study of "why".
Sure, the evolution doesn't fit the description in the Torah a word by word, but the Torah was always seen as book of morals and parables rather than just dry facts- so the fact that modern science follows the same theoretical path of creation as the Torah describes, only strengths the religious believes among many people.
That being said, many still "oppose" the theory of evolution, either because they believe it had the right idea, but went too deep and strayed off course, or because they support different theories (such as the theory of degradation).
