Bilingual schools aren't going to solve the problem. French needs official recognition and government support, and a degree of autonomy within areas of French speakers, so they can implement it in the public school system, courts, administration, council, etc.

Seriously though, this is like the one thing I would change about French history if I could. Not WW2, not Napoleon invading Russia, just trying to take better care of the North American colonies.
I guess France just never had much of an interest in colonizing New France - we were too busy with Haiti and our Caribbean Islands, which were probably more profitable at the time. Big mistake.
