only 2 "recent" polls have been done for either state and neither had data collected after news of sanders sweeping 3 states had gotten around, you can't exactly hold this as any reliable information and sanders has in a multiple instances outperformed even reliable polls
NY will be voting more than a month after its most recent poll and Penn even longer, there is time for him to pick up momentum like he has done for multiple other states. it is for this reason i place him at 25% chance of nomination instead of a 5% i would give him if the upcoming major states would be voting within the next few weeks.

sanders has so far done very well in states with less blacks and hispanics and more whites. the electorates of california and new york may be liberal, but if you look at how non-whites have voted, it's largely in favor of clinton. they play a big role in the big states, and i don't see "momentum" changing that. momentum should have allowed him to make ohio closer than it was following the win in michigan

I don't remember which state in the east was, but polls gave Clinton a +40 lead and then Sanders got tied with clinton.
And Sanders is having big gains now, he can recover pretty easily. In the next 2 states he is going to win too, and the next one is New York.

It's an open primary, and you can see that Sanders is the one who is receiving more money from citizens in New York.
