I mean the US is in no way Energy Independent when it comes to oil still, regardless of what Obama claims. But eventually if green political parties get their shit together and focus on battery/energy storage research rather than buying votes with wind-power we will have electric cars as a sensible alternative. Maybe we can avoid WW3 then.
