As I’ve said before, Bernie Sanders will not win the upcoming presidential election unless something amazing happens (like the Lizard Queen goes to jail, or Trump gets assassinated, or something similarly unexpected).
At the same time, Bernie Sanders is the future. Every year the US moves a little to the left. That’s why, compounded over many years, the US of 2016 would look culturally unrecognizable to the average adult from the 1960s, 70s, or even 80s. The same is true of the average American adult magically teleported to the United States of 2030. It will be so left-wing people now wouldn’t even believe it, including today’s left-wingers.
As his supporters love to point out, Bernie Sanders has always been an extreme leftist, going all the way back to the 60s. Old videos of him are surfacing all over the internet, showing how his speeches from decades ago are pretty much identical to his speeches now. He’s always been a socialist.
What they don’t point out, and what is most interesting to me, is during all of these decades of socialist rhetoric, Bernie Sanders was largely considered a crackpot. No one listened to the guy except for a tiny percentage of other extreme leftists. He accomplished nothing. He was way too left, way too socialist.
Today, years later, in our new left-wing nation, this little socialist has million Americans who swoon at his every word. He’s gone to striking distance of the Presidency of the United States, even making life very difficult for the Lizard Queen who would otherwise have been carried to the presidency in a palanquin made of human skulls.
Here’s a prediction you can take the the bank: Even if Donald Trump wins in November, within the next 2-3 presidential cycles, Bernie Sanders or someone just like him will be elected president. The United States will see an openly socialist president within the next 5-12 years. Count on it and don’t be surprised when it happens.
Good thing I’ll be long gone by then. :)
