I live in Houston, Texas and I'm a white boi but I have walked around the worst parts with my pals just walking and talking or skateboarding and didn't get robbed or shot. If you act like you belong you will be fine but if you act like a target you will get robbed or die here.
Call it dumb luck, only got chased by some bums with a gun once in those areas. Others are not so lucky.

Gypsy areas are probably more dangerous than the rest of the country but they wont kill you, beating over cigs, yes, but no killing.
When I'm walking toward or behind a woman at night she'll often cross to the other side of the street. Jokes on her though I'm full homo
