Fellow /int/ernationals, I have a question.

I'm applying to do a Master in Library and Information Science. Thing is, not all countries have library science as a master degree (here, for example, is a undergraduate, a BA).

My chances are to go to USA and other countries of the anglosphere, but I'd like to know what other chances are there, just for possibilities.

So, does your country have a MLIS as a graduate program? So far I found that Ireland and Sweden do.

Language is not a problem, so if it's the case of your country, please let me know.

I already work as a librarian (I'm a history graduate). I'm taking some courses here, but it's a tertiary degree, I'd like to make it to a master one.

At least here is almost 100% sure job as there are almost no graduated librarians, plus is a relaxed job. I find this a more useful way for my history degree too.

Yes. All the processes in a library are standarized, there are cataloging rules, classification methods, etc that are used almost globally.

Now is more oriented to digital libraries (networks, servers, digitalization process). Information Science is more IT oriented in that aspect.

Yes, but a degree? Surely just a trade certificate?

Is a master degree in NZ too as far as I know.

I also think it's exaggerated, not gonna lie. But for me is a way to turn my history degree onto something more useful. In some universities it has an orientation on conservation and restauration of historical documents, archives, etc.

I don't think a MA in history will help me moving to other country.

There's one in the University of Tampere, it includes game research and other interactive media.

Is easier to apply for study there with an EU passport? (I have one).
