I dated a Swiss girl once. She spoke German like her mouth was full of rocks. Sweet girl, but her voice was so harsh.

It sounds even worse than Hollandic Dutch, and might just be one of the ugliest languages altogether. Some Low German accents are pretty pleasant though, but it doesn't hold a candle to Dutch Low Saxon/Flemish/Brabantian/Frisian/Limbourgish/Zealandic.

My cousin from Germany visited last summer. She wanted to go to a theme park so I ended up taking her. While we were waiting in line for a rollercoaster, there was a kid about 11-12yrs old who had a German soccer shirt on. I convinced her to go say something to him in German. She asked him "Did you enjoy watching Germany win the world cup?" He had a confused look on his face. She then asked again in a stern tone. He had a very nervous look on his face at this point. Others around also looked concerned. Finally she pointed to his shirt and laughingly repeated it in English. He turned red from embarrassment and responded with a "Y-y-yeah it was fun"
