Has anyone else here taken a DNA test? My brother took one and it was interesting to see where are ancestors in Africa came from. What surprised you most about your results?

That is mostly bullshit I did 23andMe which is bullshit but not the same kind.
Anyways the only surprise is I'm less White than I thought, less Native American but more Asian via Malagasy ancestors my relatives thought were "Indians"

Yes but 23andme and Ancestry gave me very different results. Ancestry was way more accurate to what I know personally going back to the the late 1700's minus the Iberian portion
I took one at the police station when I got arrested years ago, never got the results though. They'll catch me if I ever do something silly again and they test DNA from the crime scene

ancestry tests are based on self-reported "race" and origins. they can't tell you who your ancestors were, they tell you how likely you are to have ancestors from a particular place given what the sample told the initial researchers. it's a subtle difference, but it's a real difference, and it means that the test itself isn't very accurate by any measure.
