>>

Honestly nah

There is a hugr difference between Slovenia and for example Serbia

Even in people mentality
>>
>>56712047
That's true. Everyone from the Slovenian coast (and also from Nova Gorica further up north along the border) knows Italian and is tuned in to Italian cultural currents. For instance, every single person I've met from the coast loved 60s Italian singer/songwriter Fabrizio De Andre. All the Italians I've met loved him just as much. On the other hand, no one in Ljubljana has ever heard of De Andre.

The Balkans stop at the old Croatian-Slovenian border. You can tell by the change of mentality as expressed in the common choice of swearwords (Croatian ones are very vulgar, Slovenian ones very mild). You can also tell the difference by the foreign politics of each of the countries - Croatians like staging border incidents, claiming land on the Slovenian side, and appropriating region-protected EU foods without any sense of shame. Slovenian diplomacy on the other hand is always obliging and courteous, never starting incidents, never taking aggressive action despite having political issues with three of its four neighbours.

>>56712104
Statistically speaking, 80% of all Slovenian house facades are in need of renovation, and there are graffiti everywhere, as is often remarked by western visitors.
>>
>>56712306
Nah, compare to Prague Ljublana is almost graffiti free

No. Actually Serbs make up 7% of Slovenia's population, all of which have moved here since 1945, and they've faced no persecution from Slovenians, not even during the 1991 war of independence which was de facto a war between Slovenia and Serbia. Well, there were 9000 people who refused to take Slovenian citizenship just before the war and were thereafter denied the possibility of acquiring it for the next 13 years despite remaining Slovenian residents, until a media scandal broke out, ultimately leading to their financial recompensation, but that's really the extent of our hate towards Serbs.

>implying there were no Croats in the chetniks.
I also dislike the fact they're called chetniks as they never called themselves as such and they weren't Serbian nationalists-which is usually the definition of a Chetnik. They were Yugoslav loyalists (thus Loyal to the Yugoslav government in exile) and Slovene nationalists and they were never numerous to begin with.

Most of them were Soldiers and Officers of the Yugoslav Royal Army that didn't surrender after the capitulation of Yugoslavia.
>>
>>56719779
Actually, current Serbs have nothing to do with Lusatian Serbs. Ancient Serbs did, but they were exterminated by the T*rks. The Serbs we have now are not Slavs, they are a mix of Croatians, Illyrians, Romans, Gypsies and Turks. Serbian national identity as we know it was invented by Russians who wanted to have a real ally on Balkans, since Bulgarians were not reliable enough.

Nah, it's pretty much the same language with minor differences such as pronunciation, plural verb cases, the dual number, the gender of some nouns, and roughly 15% of the vocabulary. If we lived in the each other's countries for a couple of months, we'd be able to fully master the other's language, and I've seen both Croats and Serbs do it in such a short timespan.

Because we're also south Slavs except we don't speak Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian.

Slovenians (Slovenian politicians in Vienna to be precise) were a key part of the formation of Yugoslavia, Anton Korošec specifically.

>>56720730
>And here and there massacred non-serbs.
Give me one, one(1), example of how they massacred non-serbs. Did they massacre themselves, after all they were non-serbs?

You're also retarded for literally buying into the propaganda. They wanted a strong Yugoslav state without a single nationality establishing dominance (Why would any slovenian want serbian dominance, tard?) that can defend itself against Italian and German political, military and economic pressure because Slovenia, Slovenians and Slovene territory was coveted by all of its neighbouring countries.

When Yugoslavia died during world war 2 so did Slovenia which was carved up between Italy, Germany and Hungary and resulted in roughly 7% of the population dieing (above Yugoslav average) and another ~5%-~10% of the population being deported to German work/concentration camps, Croatia or Serbia-precisely what Slovene nationalists feared would happen if Yugoslavia dissolved. Neither Slovenia, Croatia or Serbia were strong enough independently to resist this foreign pressure-This is why the entire idea of a south Slav state came into being-to directly counter act the more powerful and larger states on its borders.

Thus the Slovene """"Chetniks"""" (which weren't Chetniks at all but Yugoslav and Slovene nationalists and were known as Plava Garda/Blue guard and officially known as Slovenska Armada Jugoslovanske Vojske v Domovini ("Slovene Army Group of the Yugoslav army in the Homeland") in Slovene) were a thing.

Nice try, Gypsy Turk. Why don't you go back to Turkey or India and leave Sorbs and Austrians their rightful clay?
>>
>>56722045
No, that's the whole point of what I'm saying.

Slovenians that were Yugoslav nationalists had a good reason for it. They wanted a strong Yugoslav state (which would also be fair to all 3 nations) that could resist German and Italian pressure as Slovenian territory was directly under threat from the above mentioned countries.

Most people in Yugoslavia thought that way as well. It's why the communists (which based their propaganda on brotherhood and unity) were so popular in literally every Republic. If you look at partisans by nationality you'll see that Serbs, Croats and Slovenes are all fairly proportionally represented based on the population. Most people didn't even know what a communist is, they were uneducated plebs yet joined them anyway based on this. Most people who we're against it were mostly because they were commies not because they wanted a Yugoslav state.

You can't fucking """fix""" the fact demand on the markets fell and this took with it a large number of companies thus reduced tax incomes, increased unemployment and with it social expenditure while the public sector just expected to get their share of the pay anyway resulting in consistently increasing public debt.

Slovenes are a sheltered people with an uneventful history. We find it hard to imagine that Hungary was nearly depopulated and then resettled by 25 different ethnic groups, all of whom are still recognized minorities in Hungary and which include Armenians. We also tend to believe that people outside of Slovenia know Slovenian personalities such as the guy who first envisioned the satellite (and didn't even consider himself Slovenian), or the polka "superstars" Avseniki, but this obviously tends not to be the case. /int/ only proves that Slovenia is its own little self-contained universe that no one has any clue about.

It's surprising though, because Croatia or Serbia got much more publicity. I blame it on the wars in 1991; independence of Slovenia was hardly a blip on the radar (not intended to be rude) but war in Bosnia, Kosovo or Croatia put the limelight on your neighbours.

Err, but that's wrong. Serbia joined the state of the Slovenes, Croats and Serbs after Slovenia and Croatia, but provided the king and capital as the only pre-existing country and a member of the entente. They fooled themselves into believing that they had actually created a great Serbia for some years, but that backfired on them as the parliament tore itself to shreds and had to be dissolved and the king was eventually assassinated by separatists.

Or maybe you just weren't listening but arrogantly talk about the subject anyway. You know, wikipedia exists, it's not the best but it's a start.

It's basically true. Over a million Serbs died in the first world war as a sacrifice to create Yugoslavia. Not some pseudo Slovenian or Croatian (and to be honest, also SERBIAN) intellectuals in far-away London.

> and that you weren't part of Kingdom of Yugoslavia which was basically Kingdom of Serbia with additional regions, with a serbian king like the UK and England.

It wasn't so. Slovenia retained complete cultural autonomy to the point where Slovenian became the first language of school instruction where it had played the second fiddle to German before, with Serbian being a compulsory subject. Newspapers also continued to be printed exclusively in Slovene as they had been in Austrian times. In fact, Slovenia (known then under the ethnic-neutral term of Dravska banovina) was ruled by a shadow government of clericalists headed by monsignor Anton Korošec, the sometime Yugoslavian minister of the interior. So we were actually a Catholic theocracy within an Orthodox monarchy. Croatia didn't have as much autonomy, though it had strong political representation, and this was the main political conflict in Yugoslavia, along with Bulgarian irredentism (in fact, it was a Macedonian-Bulgarian patriot who murdered king Alexander in coordination with the Croatian ustaši, which you probably know from WWII).

Read it yourself then, you idiot.

There was no Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1918. First there was a State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs without the Kingdom of Serbia. That state unified with the Kingdom of Serbia to form the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (NOT Yugoslavia you idiot) with an agreement between Slovene. Croatian and Serbian politicians. The state was a parliamentary democracy with representatives from all 3 nations. The King was a Serbian, but that's completely irrelevant just like the UK having a German king is irrelevant. So not only are you wrong but your fucking example is trash too.

>It was formed in 1918 by the merger of the provisional State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs (itself formed from territories of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire) with the formerly independent Kingdom of Serbia. The Kingdom of Montenegro had united with Serbia five days previously, while the regions of Kosovo, Vojvodina and Vardar Macedonia were parts of Serbia prior to the unification. For its first eleven years of existence, the Kingdom was officially called the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes

Literally from your wiki link. Yugoslavia only started existing from 1929 when a dictatorship was enforce. Before that it was a Kingdom of 3 nations and a parliamentary democracy.

The territories that were part of Austria didn't go to Serbia. They went to another State that unified with Serbia to form what was later named Yugoslavia.

Let's put it this way.

Without Croats Yugoslavia would have existed
Without Slovenes Yugoslavia would have existed
Without Serbs Yugoslavia would have never existed.

And that includes this stupid "State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs" that Slovenes keep talking about.
>>
>>56728741
>And that includes this stupid "State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs" that Slovenes keep talking about.
You're literally retarded though. Why wasn't Serbia called Yugoslavia then before the war? Why did it have to unify with Slovenia and Croatia to form Yugoslavia? Yugoslavia literally means South Slavland including all South Slavs except Bulgarians which are special snowflakes anyway. That's why it's called Yugoslavia, idiot.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_of_Slovenes,_Croats_and_Serbs

Literally a Yugoslavia without Serbia.
>>
>>56728741
Slovenes and Serbs formed "Yugoslavia" in Zagreb a month or two before the deal with Serbia was NEGOTIATED so that the western and northern border could be more favourably settled with Serbian military help.

Serbia then, as if joking, sent about 80 soldiers to Slovenia, who actually showed great valour, managing to stop the Italian advance on Ljubljana and greatly contributing to the fighting between Slovenes and Austrians in Carinthia.
>>
>>56728951
I'm not retarded. You haven't convinced me of anything. Yes, before the name "Yugoslavia" the entity was called "Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes" but the entity itself is the same. The terminology doesn't matter, how the entity came to existence does.

Then you are retarded. You say a Yugoslavia without Slovenia and Croatia could exist but not without Serbia, yet the first Yugoslavia was formed without Serbia. So, yes, you are retarded or wilfully ignorant.

Without Slovenia or Croatia there is no Yugoslavia, just a Serbia. It's also why Yugoslavia renamed to Serbia and Montenegro after Slovenia, Croatia and eventually Bosnia broke away.

>but the entity itself is the same.
That's not the point.

>the terminology doesn't matter
Of course it matters when you make claims based on it, idiot.
>>
>>56728741
Just because my country is called "land of the Serbs" it doesn't mean that we live there exclusively or originate from there. It's a political entity and it doesn't mean other people don't live within it's borders, the same goes for the rest of the ex-yu cunts. People who identify as Serbian could be found well outside the borders of the borders of ww1 Serbia.
>>
>>56729407
You forgot to mention that before this abomination came to fruition, it was an "empire of mind". Since 1840es, Croats have been eating all sorts of mushrooms, envisioning Illyrias and Yugoslavias, adjusting our academia towards these narratives
So yes, we had a thing for this abomination before Serbs. We (our academia) CREATED it and flirted with it
>>
>>56729582
>So yes, we had a thing for this abomination before Serbs. We (our academia) CREATED it and flirted with it
It was the same here minus the Illyria part. Anton Korošec literally read the may declaration in Vienna demanding a trialist Austro-Hungary-Yugoslavia.

He was also a prime minister in Yugoslavia eventually.
>>

I'm obviously arguing with autists so this will be my last message.

>Slovenes and Serbs formed "Yugoslavia" in Zagreb a month or two before the deal with Serbia was NEGOTIATED

Doesn't matter. The "Yugoslavia" formed in Zagreb would never have been formed if the Serbs didn't in the first world war.

>Then you are retarded. You say a Yugoslavia without Slovenia and Croatia could exist but not without Serbia, yet the first Yugoslavia was formed without Serbia. So, yes, you are retarded or wilfully ignorant.

Same answer as above.

>Without Slovenia or Croatia there is no Yugoslavia, just a Serbia. It's also why Yugoslavia renamed to Serbia and Montenegro after Slovenia, Croatia and eventually Bosnia broke away.

Let me repeat what I said.

Without Croats Yugoslavia would have existed
Without Slovenes Yugoslavia would have existed
Without Serbs Yugoslavia would have never existed.

I did not say that without ALL southern Slavs Yugoslavia would not have existed. What I meant was that if Croats magically did not exist Yugoslavia would still exist, if Slovenes magically did not exist Yugoslavia would still exist, but if Serbs magically did not exist before/during WWI then Yugoslavia would have never existed.

>Of course it matters when you make claims based on it, idiot.
Not really. If we were talking about a Pacific Parrotlet but the name changed to "Celestial Parrotlet" (which actually it did lol) then the name does not matter at all. The entity is still the same.

And as much as you guys like calling other people stupid, retarded and idiots, I recommend not doing it. You guys just look ignorant yourselves instead.

If Serbs magically did not exist, we wouldn't have a war on our hands and subsequently, a "Yugoslavia" would have been formed, as a union between South Slavs - common interest in a reformed monarchy, amid nationalism

False. The demands for Yugoslavia pre-date the end of the war, in fact they pre-date world war 1 all together. A unified South Slav state is an idea 100 years older than the fucking war. Holy fuck you idiot.

>but if Serbs magically did not exist before/during WWI then Yugoslavia would have never existed.
But you are wrong

>Not really. If we were talking about a Pacific Parrotlet but the name changed to "Celestial Parrotlet" (which actually it did lol) then the name does not matter at all. The entity is still the same.
>IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE I SAID IT DOESN'T MATTER
Read the posts again as to why it DOES matter when making claims regarding it. The entity was as much the same as Weimar Germany and Nazi Germany. On paper.

He has to be stoic because he's crossing into uncharted territory. This is an opportunity for him to not see everything through a pro/anti Serb lens and focus on different opinions, weigh options. An opposing viewpoint is crucial in forming as much of an objective opinion as possible

I disagree with him primarily because of this "lens". He refuses to see it from our side and trust me, I am confident that I know the Serbian side better than him. Without a shred of discrimination involved
