a lot of greece's national spending is military, and pensions, pic related. also they have many people living on islands that need "infrastructure", and the average greek doesn't pay full taxes

Because people aren't stupid enough to grant you that much debt and they don't have their banker buddies to be saved in case they do.
The real question that comes to mind in the Greek shenanigans is that were the large French and German banks stupid enough to think that the Greek government could pay their debts or were they smart enough to guess that they'd get bailed out by EMU anyway.
